~Home Sweet Renovation~
We bought this, our first and probably only home, in 1997.

Okay, so it's no victorian mansion, but at least it's not a 70's split level, either! <my biggest pet peeve as far as residential architecture goes> It does have some charming features from decades past when people built their home for longevity and pride and family and not just to make a quick buck. It was built in 1920 and we're the second family to own it. We're happy to call it home until we win the lottery (which we don't play) and can have buy some historical mansion and hire Tommy Silva and Norm Abram to restore. LOL!
NOW
BEFORE
Exterior still needs paint on foundation, doors and porches and some finish trimwork on porches. We'll also need a working doorbell and new light fixtures.
DURING
These cabinets were supposed to be white washed NOT pink! EEK!
<----

The contractor who hung them quit, so we had to remove them, stripped screws in all, ourselves. Joy!
DURING
This photo already shows new doors and a new window and is missing the pricker bush that had taken over the handrail to the rotted stairs. It was actually much worse to start.
All in all, we were without a complete working kitchen for 4 months. Sadly, had things not been managed improperly by the county's community development project who planned and coordinated this misadventure it never would've gone past 4 days!

After all, I'm just the homeowner and a SAHM (stay at home mom) of two young kids- we don't need a kitchen! Ahhhh! I'll be having flashbacks of this forever like a Vietnam Vet!
