Alex's room was done before her birth nearly five years ago. I don't have a before photo on hand, but it was gross. We painted right over unstrippable ancient wallpaper, we replaced a wavy-glassed wood window. The closet door was missing so we fashioned a curtain from a sheet. The valance was made the same way. I drew and painted the mural freehand. It was centered over her white wood crib. I individually stenciled every star.
Since these photos she has graduated to a handmade pencil post canopy bed. She has kicked the binky habit. She has also gone from loving her room to insisting I paint it pink with princesses. Sorry, Charlie, I think NOT. I was SO hoping she'd appreciate it until she was 8 or 10. I have no problem with painting over the mural. Maybe going from the cow/moon to a princess and castle scene but keeping the purple night sky theme with the stars. She is not going for the compromise. She will not listen unless the walls are pink. :( |
