| The Playground Equipment Fund was established in the fall of 2001 and will be available for donations through 2004. General membership may vote to contribute portions of other fundraising monies toward this on-going project. Donations from private citizens or businesses will be accepted. At the end of the time frame, the money will be granted to the school district toward the purchase of new playground toys. As you can image, there are quality and safety factors involved in the production and installation of these toys and the prices are comparable to the cost of an automobile! We are grateful to have a group of parents oversee this Playground Fund, Tanya Hall (985-7568), Jodi Stanley (985-0965) and Cindy Jones (983-8839). If you have comments, ideas, skills or finances to help in any way with this project, please call them. |
| We were again thrilled to hear at the March PTA meeting about the progress the playground committee has made in seeing that new equipment is designed, approved and built for the children as soon as possible. The first project in the works is a "Ball Wall". This is a sturdy plywood wall that the kids can kick and thow balls at! It will also serve as a wind breaker under the play-shed (position will be at the south end and under the roof) and this Ball Wall will simultaneously save the brick and mortar on the outside of the main building from being a target for high speed projectiles!...not to mention being a benefit to the kids who will not be receiving tickets for kicking balls against the aging bricks! The Playground equipment committee has been meeting once a week. They are working closely with playground equipment representatives who are making design suggestions and are presenting formal bids for for the project. After extensive research for safety, durablity, liability and price, the committee will make a recommendation to the school board asking for approval of the best plan. Once these requirements have been met, the project will be schedule for construction as soon as possible. |
