PT -330 is an example of a mid-war, heavily armed South Pacific based Patrol Boats. As the war in the Pacific entered its middle stages, US forces swung onto the offensive. The United States Navy's PT Boat squadrons started to rearm with additional types of weapons that would enable it to hunt out Japanese barge traffic in the many jungle lined bays and inlets of the island groups of the Pacific. These boats were still armed to hunt down Japanese Naval units that ventured down the island chains to do battle with the US Navy. PT -330 has the typical armament of an early 1943 boat. Sporting an impressive array of weapons, including a single 40mm Bofors mount, a 37mm canon, a 20mm Oerlicon, two twin 50 caliber machine guns, a 30 caliber browning machine gun, 4 MK-13 torpedoes and 2 depth charges, these boats were able to take care of almost anything the Japanese threw at them.
