Blizzard Fan 1000 is a simple design. It is based on the design of "resort" fan guns. I tried to make an airless gun. This gun uses no compressed air to break up, and cool the water. But what I did not know at the time is that airless guns are not truly airless (see Resort Snowmaking for more info). The idea was right but at the time I could not get the gun to work. I am working on a new design that should increase snow production by 4 to 6 times that of a normal home snow gun. I do not have any photos of this gun dew to it's dismantle in 1999 for parts for a new design, sorry.

 The snow gun used an old 14-inch attic fan to which I attached an old blower motor. This motor gave me 1700 rpm instead of 500. The added rpm gave a lot more airflow. Then in front of that I mounted garden hose and a spryer nozzle that had a very fine mister on it. The whole thing was then mounted on top of a 25-foot ladder. It did a great job at producing freezing rain. It did work once at 0 degrees, but then it froze after about 45 minutes. That is the very first gun that got me started.
