About Mosaic Promotions:

Having a passion for the arts, it is my goal to build a career in arts promotion and, eventually, cultural policy. I have a particular interest in broadcasting policy, especially the plight of English language Canadian drama. I have done some research in the area and have come to realize that the economic reality is that the arts, especially canadian television, would not exist without subsidy. Protecting the right of canadians to communicate with each other through broadcasting and the arts is important to me. This is why I want to work in cultural promotion.

I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Concordia University specializing in Theatre with a minor in Creative Writing. Although I have not yet completed the PR program at Loyalist, I already have a great deal of experience in arts promotion. In Ottawa, I produced a daily newsletter for the Fringe Festival. Volunteering for Charlie Angus, Member of Parliament for Timmins/James Bay and NDP Heritage Critic, I compiled a list of national cultural stakeholders and did research for meetings of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage.

Representing 2500 artists, I promoted the study and enjoyment of the arts at Concordia University as the President of the Fine Arts Student Alliance. I also ran publicity for Art Matters, the multidisciplinary festival that showcases work by hundreds of student artists across Montreal. My enthusiasm and persistence led to the publication of more articles in the student media about Art Matters in one year than the three previous years combined. This impressed other student leaders who asked me to run for the student union. I was elected and managed communications for the union as Vice President Internal Relations wroting press releases, web content, newsletter articles and liaising with student, local and provincial media.

A portfolio of my past work can be viewed on the Portfolio page. Should you like to meet to discuss my qualifications, feel free to email me.

Philosophy:

Mosaics are comprised of a variety of beautiful pieces. Different viewpoints, disciplines and experiences give life texture and meaning. The mosaic is also an important Canadian symbol. Not only is it important to preserve the the diversity of human life, but also the ability of Canadians to communicate with other Canadians. Through cultural expression we shape our understanding of our country and actively participate in forming our collective destiny.
