I'm trying out a new, more self-indulgent yet less cluttered format for the News page. For past news items, click the link above. For the current page, I'm just keeping the most current blurb here.

A QUICK, update... ...well, tonight (Sept. 1st) the Nathan Clevenger Group is back at our regular haunt, Cafe Van Kleef, with the now steady lineup (now that, sadly, Ches Smith has left the bay area and taken his toys with him): Cornelius Boots, Aaron Novik, Sam Bevan, Bryan Bowman, and myself. This will be fun, especially since we've actually rehearsed as a full band for once, AND we're debuting a couple brand new compositions. Please come see us. * * * What else is news...well, I am sleep-deprived (welcome to my blog, sucker), after last night's marathon recording session with Doctors in Love (Matt Hornby, James Macko, and myself). We finished up the tracking for our debut demo/e.p. (the basics were laid down last week), and will be mixing it in the next week or so. Very exciting. We recorded 6 original compositions, and besides guitar, I was privileged to have a chance to add some vocals (yikes), vibraphone, glockenspiel, melodica, drums (!!!), organ, and other bits and pieces. Fun. Hopefully we'll be able to secure some real gigs now. * * * Michael Finley signed with the Spurs. Good gravy. * * * Some new records I've been digging, since you care ever so much: Andrew Hill - Dance with Death; Trevor Dunn & Shelley Burgon; Jamie Saft Trio/John Zorn (composer) - Astoroth; Edmund Welles - Agrippa's 3 Books; Wes Montgomery Trio (Wes' debut). * * * Thanks for reading! |
