Original character application on Mortal Dreams is a two step process, requiring a background, and personality profile. As in any role-playing focused game, a firm understanding of the character one is portraying is an important thing. It helps to enrich the experience for all involved.
To apply for an original character, one must go through the steps outlined in character generation, as well as 'news background' and 'news profile'. When finished , @mail *Apps in game, and your character application will be processed as quickly as is possible by an applications staff member. Usually, applications will be dealt with within twenty four to forty eight hours.
BACKGROUNDS:
Backgrounds on Mortal Dreams serve two purposes. The first, and perhaps most important purpose is to help you, the player, organize your thoughts and create a three dimensional character that is fun to play,
and comes alive in your mind. The other purpose is for the staff, so we can make sure that your character ideas fit within the universe we have created here. To help simplify the process, we have come up with some basic guidelines.
For the basic background, we expect a detailed (more than just a few sentences) history of your character. Try to be as detailed as possible, this will help you in your interactions with others. Please be certain to include your character's resources. What sort of lifestyle does he or she live? Rich, poor, decidedly middle class? This aspect of the background is very important.
The last paragraph of your background will delve into special abilities or unusual possessions. Can you decipher ancient texts? Do you own any weaponry? These special skills and items need to be detailed out. If you want to own it or be able to do it, it is required to be included in your background.
PROFILES:
During the character application process, we require not just the facts of your character's life as outlined in their background section, but information on the mental makeup of your character. This portion of the application is known as the Personality Profile.
Is your character a loner? A social butterfly? How does this affect the way he or she views themselves? Do they care what other people think of them? Just what is it that makes your character the person that they are? Again, please be as detailed as possible. Be certain to balance strengths with weaknesses. It is often the weaknesses and failings of a character that can make for some wonderful role-play.
