The Lady In White
Alone in the mansion
Laying there in the dark
Away in the distance
I hear the dogs bark

A chill wind blows through me
I'm tethered with fear
As I hear ghostly footsteps
Approaching quite near

When, in through the doorway
A vision appeared
In pristine white robes
Her eyes filled with tears

Across the room she drifted
Till she stood by my side
Where I lay shaking
My fear I could not hide

"Dont be afraid"
Her words soft and warm
"Please don't be frightened
I mean you no harm"

"The reason I cry
Is quite clear you see
A very wise mystic
Once said to me..."

She then told her story
Of her saddened times
Till out it the hallway
The old clock did chime

The lady looked startled
She turned round and fled
I watched as she vanished
Then lept out of bed

I raced to the doorway
But no sign of her there
I ran down the passage
And looked down the stairs

Had I been dreaming?
Was I losing my mind?
I strode back to the bedroom
And what did i find?

A perfect Red Rose
And a card that shone bright
With a message that read
"From the Lady in White"
