Historic Rob Roy Hillclimb November 30th 2003

The Morris Garages MGB came 3rd in Group Sb at Historic Rob Roy on Sunday 30th November, with a 27.92 on the last run.... Being the fastest MGB on the day.

Richard said....."I managed third in my class at Historic Rob Roy..... Should have won my class, but could only manage a (slack) 27.92 on the day.
I did a 26.99 two years ago with the old set-up, but with a really strong engine. The engine let me down this time with no power above 6,000.... I think we got it wrong with that cam timing, as it didn't want to rev out.
The new gearbox has been playing-up, but luckily it didn't jump out of third all day, although it was still noisy in nuetral.
Once I sort the engine out properly, it will really fly.... I want to win my class in this event next year! ... and will settle for no less that a 25 sec time.
A really hot Austin Healey 3000 from SA and an MGC GT came 1st and 2nd.... a bit disappointing, but I was happy to get my first ever trophy at Rob Roy.... they look like Olympic Gold Medals!"

We got these official results and this photo from the MGCC Website recently.... Apparently Richard didn't realise that he lifted the left hand front wheel off the deck, and was wondering why people at the top of the hill were all smiling and giving the thumbs-up!
