When I am hired as a school media specialist there are many chunks of data and "evidence" that I'll start collecting. Below is a list of questions I will want the answer to assess the library programs, the collection and to advocate my position and the library itself.
In order to answer those questions, here are some ways I can gather information.
I chose to do a collection mapping project. I used the collection at my old elementary school library, with permission of the resident school media specialist. |

Professional ReportThis professional report outlines my plan for the project, what I hoped to do with the information I found, how I gathered the data, the analysis of the data, and my conclusion.Excel Spreadsheet & Data Collection MaterialsI adapted my excel spreadsheet form from the School District of Philadelphia's Documents for Library Collection Mapping site. The actual form I adapted from is http://www.libraries.phila.k12.pa.us/pdf/TotalCollectionWorkForm.pdf. In order to fill out this spreadsheet, I used some enrollment information found at the Indiana Department of Education's page on Acton Elementary School. The Excel Spreadsheet - the first page is raw data. The other two pages are for the data collection portion. |
