History

Moonstruck began its journey in 2000 when Amit 'lead vocals & lead guitars' posted at INS Shivaji Lonavala assembled a five piece band with Billy 'keyboards', Lacunza 'rhythm guitars', Nelson 'bass' and Varun 'drums'. The band kicked off initially specialising in covers of the Doors & Jim Morrison but this was followed by rapid line-up changes in the band impacting it's sound with every change. Nelson departed giving way to Arbor 'bass' and so did Billy resulting in a quartet. A transfer to Mumbai for Amit left Moonstruck as a three piece outfit with Lacunza taking over as lead vocals and guitars until Steward came along to complete the sound on rhythm guitars and backing vocals.

The latest line-up is as follows:-
Lacunza (Lead Vocals & Guitars) : Having played for an explosive rock ensemble 'Lunatic Angels' back home in Shillong, this guitar freak has enthralled large crowds at Mood Indigo over the years.

Arbor (Bass & Backing Vocals) : This rapping bass player can really groove!

Varun (Drums & Backing Vocals) : Watch out for this prodigy who has already brought down the house with bands like Cryptic Blues, Wishful Thinking and Almost Musicians!

Neil (Guitars) : He's cool, he's composed but he sure can kick it in when it comes to riffing and shredding lead, he's none other than the latest addition to the band!

The Sound

With each musician influenced by highly varied forms of music, it's difficult to classify Moonstruck's sound. The band has a new age sound which mixes groove, melody, harmony and energy in amounts which would generally appeal to seasoned 'rockers'. The band is currently focusing on composing and recording their own music. The live act is a combination of both originals as well as covers that range from legendary bands like Led Zepplin, Aerosmith, Extreme as well as newer bands like Puddle of Mudd, Creed, Hoobastank & Nickelback to name a few. With the great response received for originals like "One God", "Alone Again" and "Faceless", Moonstruck hopes to phase out covers as time progresses and audiences are more appreciative towards original music.
