| A History Dragons are not native to Sahryn. The Moonsong Summit Dragons are actually alien to the planet. Facing extinction on a planet being engulfed by their sun, a few survivors took a risk and blinked. They came tumbling out of the Portal ((causing a fair amount of destruction in the process)) in the Moonsong Forest. They sang their tale to J'haya, who relayed the message to Verilee. Of course the always welcoming residents welcomed the Dragons to their world, offering anything they could give. The dragons needed all the help they could get- the original pioneers consisted of just five dragons- two males and three females, two of the females which were juveniles. Most were badly injured, but with the help of J'haya they healed quicker than normal- though not completely. The Dragons depended on their human counterparts for survival. They had lived on a planet without bonds for generations, but instinct took over on this planet where potential bonds were abundant, and the mothers began to build nests hoping for clutches to bond. Information Moonsong Dragons are leathery skinned, and slightly resemble jackals. They have large paws and ears. Adult males have tufts of fur sprouting from joints, and fluffy eyebrows. The dragons live a secluded life on the Summit. When there are eggs available, Chartreuse sends word down the mountain. There are a number of messengers* residing on the ground level that use the Portal to travel to other worlds to seek out candidates. Chartreuse reviews each candidate when they arrive. Candidates stay in a not-very-cozy cavern apartment until the eggs hatch. If they bond, they move to apartments on the upper level of the mountainside with their bonds. Here they are involved in flight, feeding, hunting, and generally getting used to the dragon's way of life. When the dragon is old enough, they can leave and go anywhere they please. Moonsong Dragons are born knowing their own names. The name ends with the mother's family name. For example, the offspring of Violet Sheya'lee will be called Name'lee. The known colors of the Moonsong Dragons are as follows, grouped by gender. The original five dragons that arrived in Moonsong were: Violet Sheya'lee, Green Murinys'kelel, Green Jiler'ny, Silver Ubury'polr, and Copper Ruvr'vorlil. Information about color/gender/talents or magic that has been gathered through conversation with the dragons has provided a basic understanding and general overview. Although previously unknown colors/traits are bound to pop up in future generations, the following is as good a summary as can be provided at this time. Green- Female. They are the smallest and most agile, as well as the quickest at short distances. Often used as messengers or scouts in battle. Violet- Female. Violets are calm and quite motherly. They are nurturing, strong and warm. Violets are said to make the best Nest-mothers. Gold- Female. Golds are large ladies. They lay the most eggs when they clutch. White- Female. They are true enigmas, and quite rare. Blue- Male. They are the smallest males. Red- Male. Reds are medium sized but very strong. They are able to fly long distances and not tire. Brown- Male. The are usually the most cunning and witty of all the colors. Copper- Male. Coppers are difficult to tire. They can run or fly long distances at a steady pace without being winded. Silver- Male. Silvers are fighters. They are large, strong, and have especially sharp claws and teeth. Black- Male. Blacks are extremely rare. There is the possibility that they are just a draconic legend. *Some of the messengers are Phollo and Jouth Batyx and Echtai
