Laura Innes has played Dr. Kerry Weaver since the show's second season, when she played the Chief Resident as a guest star. Since then, she has become a firm fixture in the ER, and is now Chief of the ER. Although not always liked by her staff, she manages to run an efficient ER. She was recently outed as a lesbian, after her season seven relationship with Dr. Kim Legaspi (Elizabeth Mitchell) caused her to reconsider her sexuality. She also walks with a crutch, although the reason is not yet known.
Laura Innes is married with two children, Cal and an adopted daughter Mia. Her husband, David Brisbin, plays Anaesthesologist Dr. Babcock on ER. Laura has directed four episodes of ER: "Power" (5x20), "Be Still My Heart" (6x13), "Sailing Away" (7x19) and "If I Should Fall From Grace" (8x7), as well as two episodes of 'The West Wing', one of which earned her an Emmy nomination.
