A charming selection of programs to download, the majority
of which are music related.
MP3 players,
Winamp, plays a range of audio files, my player of choice although realistically
you probably don’t need it any more with windows media player and all the other
standard windows players but winamp is in my opinion still the best, easy to
use, good playback and low resource usage.
As with all programs it is subject to upgrades, below is version 2.81 and
3_0, before version 3 winamp used its own audio driver and from 3 onward it
used a windows driver, on my computer version 3 distorted the sound so I’m
using winamp2.81 not 3_0, I don’t know if that’s because I was using win 95 or
because mc pc is crap. Also a further note, when I first started using winamp
and downloading music etc I was using win95 and needed to update a winsoc file
if you have that error use the program also below.

MP3 makers
All you need to make MP3’s, straight off you CD’s onto your hard drive!
Yet again there are two programs to choose from.
Cdex my favourite, creates accurate MP3 files but for some reason doesn’t
like copying home made cd’s only originals, Christ himself doesn’t know why
either.
Simple45 not as good as Cdex but copies home made cd’s with ease, it also
has a shocking mp3 player thrown in for good luck but the quality of playback
is diabolical!
Music download
sites
I no longer download music after audio galaxy was stopped and now I don’t
have free access to the internet so I try to avoid spending to much time
online, but at the moment there are loads of free download sites eg kazar light
and imesh, some sites want a 1 dollar donation which you don’t have to pay.
Below is imesh I would have included others but there basically the same and
imesh is as good as any, due to there very nature these sites are often closed
down but others are always created, at the time of publishing and as far as I’m
aware imesh is still going strong.
Amiga stuff
Yes the amiga, the pinnacle of all that’s good in the computer world,
unfortunately when its good versus evil, good doesn’t always win but it never dies!
There’s still word of the amiga one project to update amiga's to modern
standards but that’s another story.
A selection of useful programs:
Adf blitzer converts adf files into amiga executable disks but needs to be
run on an amiga or within an emulator.
UAI (ultimate amiga emulator) not really used it much, requires a
kick rom from a true amiga, if you have an amiga like I do why bother with
emulation, who knows it might have a use so its here.
Fellow, another amiga emulator, not used this much either.
Pc to Amiga, very useful allows you to network a Pc to an amiga via
the parallel port, well it lets the amiga have access to the pc drives, very
useful if you download a program off the internet then transfer it to the
amiga. Note you need to be able to install a program onto the amiga I once made
a disk that both the amiga and pc could read, I cant remember how sorry, you
can I think transfer files using uie or shell prompts on the amiga but I
haven’t tried it.
