Ringnecks Youth Hunts
Thirteen Montgomery County Youth participated in a guided hunt at Cranfill�s Hunting Preserve in Hillsboro, Illinois, Sunday, October 29, 2006. The youth attending the 7th annual Pheasants Forever Youth Hunt were: Hillsboro; Ridge Snoddy, Dustin Gipson Max Reitz, Tyler Durbin, Jon Durbin, Litchfield; Adam Roark, Logan Voyles, Dakota Young, Raymond; Devin Jenkins, Irving IL; Parker Wilhelm, Abby Wilhelm, Chad Durbin, Coffeen; Logan Voyles, Butler; and Virden, IL; Clayton Gass.
Guides, Don Cranfill, Dave Jenkins, and Chad Brockmeyer handled pointing dogs to find the birds hidden in the fields. The guides flushed the birds for the young hunters to shoot. The bird dogs then retrieved the birds to the handlers.
Dick Gifford, Cranfill Preserve Guide, demonstrated bird cleaning and storage for transportation to the young hunters.
Don Cranfill, Chapter Vice President, gave safety instruction before the hunt. Glenn Savage, Chapter Secretary/Youth Chairperson, gave wing shooting instruction. Joyce Cranfill and Nancy Savage helped register youth and provided treats for volunteers and hunters.
