September 7, 2001 School Cancelled. My mom and dad's house got hit by lightening last night. Everyone is ok, and their house is livable. It hit the roof right above thier closet, so all of their clothes are really smoke damaged. Other than that alot of the appliances (TV, Nintendo, Microwave, Computer, etc) are ruined. But they had insurance on everything and every one is ok. Thank you Lord! I am taking care of my little brother, Jason ( He's 7). A year from now, taking care of him and doing school would be no problem but its too much to balance for me today. Today was just a catch up day anyway. We can catch up next Friday.

September 4 FIRST OFFICIAL DAY! We learned our rules. Which we will review as needed through the year ; ) Then we learned the pledge of allegiance. Needs work but they were excited. AJ lost patience and ran to him room to pout. Ali was still into it, I didnt know what to do. I know his attention span is smaller right now, I want him to experience what he can when he can handle it. So I let him alone and kept with Ali while we had the attention going. (He ended up just playing in his room till we were done) We made 3 nametags for her and put one on the wall, on her chair and on her bed. So she can start to recognize her name. I am worried about confusion because hers and AJ's look alike but we will see. We ended, then, for the day and I congradulated her on a great first day of school.
September 3 Holiday, my first screw up of the year! At least its not a big one. I scheduled wrong and had our first day being on Labor Day. We will catch up this week on Friday (normally our Field Trip day) and go to the park afterwards.

September 5, 2001 Today was crazy, I was too scatterbrained, today, to do much of anything to satisfaction. I dont like days like these. We did manage to do our school time. Alex made it all the way through today. I wasn't all the way prepared (scatterbrain again) though. So a few of the things we didnt do. Hopefully we will tomorrow. We did the pledge and prayer. Then we talked about Gensis 1:1. We talked about all the things that God made, specifically the sun, moon, stars, light, sky, day and night. Ali repeated after me, in an attempt at memorization, Gen. 1:1. We will do that all week and see how it goes.
September 6, 2001 How in the world people do this I don't know! Today has been a rough one. I slept in, so basically not a whole lot has gotten done. I was never really a good housekeeper before, ok, I sucked. Now, you can imagine. I knew a whole lot wouldnt get done today, so I made school the priority. I did my prep stuff this time and did some prep for tomorrow, just in case. I made lunch, thats about it till 1pm. Sad, I know. School went really well, they are getting the hang of the schedule of it: Prayer, Pledge, then into work. I am amazed at how fast paced it has to be, to keep their attention. By the end my head was spinning. My hats are off to elementary school teachers that have to do this with 20-30 kids, in comparison to 2. We made up Alex's name tags, made "All about Me" books (that we will continue to add to in the next few weeks), went over our memory verse Gen. 1:1, made a "special" for Grandparents day (its a surprise), made "what God made" posters (with the sun moon, and stars on them, practiced "top, middle, bottom", played "Simon Says" and practiced jumping over a line. Not in that order : ). All of the above in about an hour. I will get the hang of this eventually. I also found a wonderful site with great uplifting ideas and thoughts. She has a diary too, except it is much more efficient. I found how to do it, if I ever get the time. Here's hoping!
