Diary Continued

Well things all around have been distracted around here.  School has been all together skipped some days, totally because I dont have myself together.  I know lots of people have said this, but so much has changed, my outlook on alot of things have changed.  I am trying to adjust, and my homeschooling seems more important, to me,  than ever, now, but even some of the priorities there have changed.  I want the kids to really absorb the things that are most important for them.  So I have gone through the curriculum and decided to skip some stuff ( I hope to cover in the summer, instead) that way I can stretch out other units, to make sure they have a good grasp on them.  Reading for Ali will at this point still go on as planned.  And some of the other basics ( sorting, listening, numbers, etc) will as well.  But the major units of study I have chosen till May are: Creation, Orderliness{I need it}, Christ's Birth, Faith, God's Expectation's, Christ's death and resurection(and Grace), Trinity, Prayer and Friendship.  I am skipping about 4 units, so I can focus on these.  Days are uncertain right now. I want them to know the important things as well as they can at this age.

Speaking of having a good grasp, both of them have amazed me.  They have both learned their phone number by heart.  They learned it by tune (twinkle twinkle).  12,34,567 All god's children go to heaven.  There are different endings to match the last number.  But ours ends in 7 so, I only remember that ending.  They also both know the city and state we live in.  We are working on the address.  Ali has also almost memorized the pledge of allegiance.  I hadnt planned on that and we arent working on it really (except saying it once a day), but its kinda cool.  Her memory is amazing.  She has gotten Gensis 1:1 down.  The curriculum has them memorizing one every day, but I decided thats too much.  I couldnt do that.  So I am trying to decide her next memory verse.  Alex is picking up on way more than I had thought he would.  His attention span is not always there, at least it doesnt seem like it, but he seems to have it when Dad asks him about stuff.  They learned jumping jacks this week too, I wish my video camera worked, because its too cute!  Anyway, I have to go do school prep for today.  God Bless

Well daily journals are definately out of my reach, time wise, for now.  I am hoping to have a weekly entry, from here on out.  My site will be updated more often that way.  School is going so-so.  The kids are doing wonderfully.  I just need some discipline, its too easy to say, "we are too busy today" or "I just need a little rest, we will have school tomorrow".  I am glad I am starting this now, I hope I will learn the discipline by the time, content, school hours and reporting come into play.   The kids are amazing and "eat-up" any knowledge I send there way.  Ali is coming into a new struggle, that Don and I (and hopefully you) are praying for a lot lately.  Lies, So we have postponed learning our manners section to focus on the importance of truth.  AJ can only benifit from the same knowledge.  AJ is coming into regular preschooler age, the occasional tantrum, here and there.  Ali also decided that it was time for AJ to go potty and he agreed.  So they are both potty training, which is great on the pocket book, not so great on the laundry time.  Thus my internet time has been cut significantly.  But enough complaining, school is so fun and is a break from my day.  I love it.  The crew is hollering for dinner, though, and I must be going.

School is going very well, when it can.  Life has been crazy around here lately.  Unfortunely, for many reasons, I am considering taking down this site.  It takes time to keep it updated and other safety issues that I hadnt thought of previously have come into play.  This is a pretty screwed up world, I wish it werent but it is.  I cant put my kids at risk, for my creativity outlet.  I have considered doing HTML email updates to some of the family that I really want to still have the info (because they never get to see us).  I have thought about a "log in" page, and I could probably figure that out, but it brings it's share of questions.

For now though, I will keep updating, till Don and I decide.

The kids are doing wonderful and they are picking up on phonics really well.  That has been our main focus other than potty training
