BORN AGAIN
You have all probably heard that term before. I had always been a believer in Christ, but I never really understood what Born Again meant. The week after Mark left Kansas City, my life took on a complete transformation. I literally CRAVED the word of God. I ate, breathed and slept God. I found myself praying for knowledge and understanding. I opened the Bible and it took on an entire new meaning to me. THIS MADE SENSE!!! Everything made sense! I found out a friend of mine at work was a believer. As soon as I showed up to work I had to find Heather and talk to her about what I had learned the night before. I thank God for Heather because I know I wore that girl down. <smile> She was patient though because she knew what I was going through.

I remember asking Heather if this feeling I was having would last forever. She told me it would probably slow down. I later talked to my sister about it and she explained it in a way that made sense.

When you first discover Jesus Christ he will shower you with love and knowledge. He will be there very close to you holding your hand through the discovery phase of your relationship.... And then.... when he feels the time is right he will put you down on your new feet and let you try them out on your own.

God will take a step back and let you take a few steps on your own. He will let you test your feet. This will happen. The important thing to remember is He is always there with you. You will notice that he will come back into your life at certain times to give you more strength and you WILL  feel his presence. You will know when he is there.

TOOLS OF THE TRADE
CHURCH: One of the first things I recommend that you do is find a good Church.  Don't expect to find the perfect church the first Sunday out. I went to several churches before I found my present church. It just felt right. A church offers you a great source of guidance and friendships. Heather once said to me, "Look at church like a car looks at a gas station. You need to put that FUEL in there once a week for it to run." That made a lot of sense to me and it has stuck ever since.

PRAYER: Prayer is one of the most powerful tools at your dispossal. Don't ever doubt the power of prayer. When you find yourself in a crunch you will learn the only person you need is God and he is always listening and always eager to help you out. I want to point out a few things before you start making out your Christmas wish lists. Don't get discouraged if God does not answer or grant all of your prayers, some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers....God has a path for your life to travel, what you are praying for may not be part of God's plan for you.
I have heard this many times growing up... "We ask for things in our time, God answers them in his time."

Finally, Give Praise to Jesus for all he has done for you. Give Him thanks when things go right in your life. Even if you didn't ask for something to happen, that doesn't mean He wasn't responsible for it.

THE BIBLE: The Bible is the most wonderful book on earth. It never ceases to amaze me. Everytime I pick that Book up, I learn something new about life. I remember a time in my life where it was really hard to understand. I just couldn't grasp it. After I became saved however, it was a whole new Book. I prayed to God for wisdom & understanding of the Bible. He came through for me of course. If you don't understand  something, it is easy... Pray! Ask the Lord for the answer. It will come to you, it might not come to you right away but when it does, you will know it is from God.
