Give It A Shot

Chapter 21
Then, we heard Megan crying.. "Hold that thought," I got up quickly, looked at her, decided she was crying because the pacifier was out of her mouth, stuck it back in, and quickly walked back to the couch, out of breath. "Where were we?" I panted. He laughed. At that point, the phone rang. it was beside Jimmy, so I had to kinda lay ontop of his lap to get it. I took it as a sign from God that he didn't want us to hook up. "Hold that thought again, please," I smiled, picked up the phone and said, "Hello," completely out of breath.I picked up his hand, and began fiddling with his fingers.

"What are you doing panting? Don't tell me you guys are having sex..." It was Flora.

"No, Flora. What you want?"

"I'ma be over there in about 5 minutes, so put your clothes on." she giggled.

I laughed. "5 Minutes? Alright, bye," and hung up. I dropped his hand, and--unfortunatly, it landed on my breast. I blushed completely. Sucks, don't it? Another sign? Maybe? He quickly pulled it off, recognizing where it was. "What?"

"Nothing," he answered, blushing as well. "Sorry 'bout that,"

"It isn't like you've never touched a boob before, " I laughed.. "You have boobs,"

"No I don't."

"Yeah you do," I straddled ontop of him and put my right hand on where a boob would be if he had any. "Boobs are just fat, yknow. Hang on, lemme find your nipple," I searched around with my fingers and he was laughing hysterically. "There, here is your boob." I said with simplicity. He laughed harder. I picked up his hand, "Learn to accept it." He laughed even harder, but at that point, I took his hand and put it on my boob. He stopped laughing. "Learn to accept it," I said again with a smile. He smiled back. At that point, the door opened and Flora -- whom I stupidly gave a key to -- popped up.

"Oops, sorry just picking up Megan," she said, blushing. I jumped off of Jimmy and walked towards the room I had put Megan in. Unfortunatly, the movie we were watching was at a sex scene, which only made the situation look worse. I closed the door so I could talk to Flora. "What the fuck are you doing?" she said, raising her voice. I tried to calm her down. "You've got everything you want, and for further reference, I was joking about that 'get-it-on' thing!" She picked up Megan angerly, and thankfully, Megan didn't start crying.

"Look, Flor, you weren't there, you have no idea what happened, don't start jumping to conclusions!" I said, nearly yelling. I wondered if Jim could hear us.

She immediately put her voice down and said calmly, "Thank you for babysitting Megan," she added a smile and opened the door I had closed. I sighed to myself. That's when I heard her talking to Jimmy. I thought the worst, that she would tell him I'm dating Chris but instead, she was smelling him. She then said, "Cat told me you smell good, Bye, Jimmy, nice seeing you," She picked up Megans bags and left.

"I'm sorry if it's my fault," he said in a low voice.

"Don't be, this happens all the time!" I smiled to try and comfort him, but it was more for me.

Chapter 22
In the car at 11:20, we drove to the theater, as I tried to convince him how fun it would be because no one would be in the theater and we'd have it all to ourselves. He rolled his eyes, then smiled. "All to ourselves hmm?" I laughed as he continued to drive, only looking over at me when I picked up my phone. The car ride was silent, but comfortable. "Who ya callin'?" he asked politely.

"Flora, I'm gonna apologize to her ... she thinks we're dating." I said dialing her number except the last digit.

"Why is that a bad thing?" he asked. I couldn't answer so I quickly pressed the last number and waited for her to pick up.

"Hey, I'm not home right now or I can't get to the phone, so leave a message." came the reply. I waited for the beep. BEEP.

"Hey, Flor, it's me Kitty, I just wanted to say sorry for that whole thing back at my place.. I guess you're right but the truth is, you didn't really know what was going on.. it just looked a bit wild. Heh heh." I laughed. "So, um... call me back. I'll be home around 1:30 I think. Bye, babes," I clicked off. "Okay, I feel better." I smiled. We drove into the parking lot to find only four cars there. "This is a good sign."

"She calls ya Kitty?" He said opening his door. I opened mine too and climbed out picking up my purse.

"Yeah, " I laughed. "Thanks for listening to the conversation, Jim." I joked.

"That's what I'm here for," I laughed. "So what movie should we see?" He opened the door for me as we walked into the warm theater entrance.

"Thank you, I dunno.. hmm.. Oh! How about Scary Movie 2?" I suggested.

"Sure, did you see the first one?" he asked as we walked to the stand to buy tickets.

"Yeah, it was okay," I shrugged. "Can we get 2 for Scary Movie 2?" I asked the woman politely. I brought my purse up and took out a 20 dollar bill.

"I got it," he said, 20 already in his hand.

"Nono, let me, Jim, seriously," I insisted. The woman looked at us like she was going to scream as we argued over who should pay. At that point, two guys walked out of one of the theaters and I could feel their eyes on me.

Chapter 23
"Hey, shorty, can I holla at you for a second?" one of them asked me. Sadly, I was used to this sort of thing. Jimmy's eyes narrowed as I ignored them. "Psst.. psst... 'ey," I finally decided to turn around.

"Yes?"

"Can I get your number?" he grinned.

"It's in the phone book," I smiled and turned back around.

He paused. "...But I don't know your name."

"That's in the phone book, too." I said loud enough for them to hear. Unfortunatly, at this point, Jim had already paid and bought the tickets. The two guys laughed. I turned back around and flashed a smile. "You got a paper and a pen?" One of the guys ripped his movie ticket and asked the other one for a pen. The other one pulled out a pen from his pocket which made me wonder how ofter he got numbers. I quickly jotted down a number and wrote "Alysha" as my name.

"Thanks, baby." he winked and they walked away. Jimmy was obviously mad as we walked to the popcorn stand.

"I'll pay for the food, okay?" I said. He nodded. "Chill, Jim."

"I can't believe you just did that, Cat" he muttered under his breath.

"Jimmy, I said chill okay..." I was about to explain when he interrupted me by saying,

"I mean, did you think they were hot or something? They were ugly... and rude. he called you baby, too. Is that what you want in a guy? Ugly, rude, and disresepectful?" he said, eyes focused on the floor as I paid for popcorn and two soda's.

"Jimmy!!!"

"What??"

"That wasn't my fucking number or my name." I stared at him. He looked at me for a second.

"Oh, uh.. sorry, um." He chuckled slightly.

I laughed. "Don't worry about it."

Chapter 24
As we walked into the dark theater, the credits to the movie were already starting. "Dammit," I said loudly. Jim shushed me and I laughed. "There's no one else in here," I laughed harder. "We can get up and dance around. Switch seats, anything." I laughed. "The girls and I go to this theater late always so we can see the movie without people around.." he smiled as we walked down the isle side by side and I joked lightly by singing the classical wedding song. "Dun dun da nun.. " he laughed.

"Let's sit up front,"

"Oh my gosh! You rock! No one ever wants to sit front row with me other than my sister. Which sucks. Everyone wants to sit in the middle." I exclaimed.

He smiled. "So, we have the whole theater to ourselves, hmm?" he joked.

I laughed. The movie was already 10 minutes into it and we weren't paying attention at all. "Yeah, its the perfect place to give head."

He laughed. "Oh, really?" I laughed harder but decided to change the subject somehow.

"Can you guys please put your voice down???" I yelled behind me at absolutely no one. He burst out laughing. Throughtout the movie we talked.. and flirted but didn't watch. In the end we spent $24..86 talking. As we walked out I continued to sip my coke.

"I can't believe we spent all that money and didn't even watch," I giggled.. it sounded so girlish.

The woman we had seen who gave us the tickets stared at us like we were disgusting. She sighed and said. "We're closing now,"

"Okay.... thanks?" I posed it as a question. Jim laughed.

"That means get out," he whispered. I laughed as we got into his car.

"Oh my God!" I nearly screeched.

He hit the breaks hard. "What??" he asked, concerned.

"I just realized that girl thought we were doing the nasty in the theater." He raised an eyebrow. "I was like, 'We didn't even watch the movie' and she looked at us like we were gross. Remember?"

He laughed. "That's hilarious," I let go and laughed with him.

Chapter 25
The ride home was weird. It was silent, but comfortable. I dunno how else to describe it.. weird. Heh heh. Well, unfortunatley, throughtout the ride, I was nervous. I was trying to figure out whether or not I should invite him in. Well, when we pulled up to my driveway, the decision was made for me. Chris' car was parked there. Dammit. We should have never exchanged house keys. "Is somebody here?" Jim asked, staring at the car, obviously not knowing what Chris' car looks like.

"It's Flora," I lied. "Thanks, Jimmy, this was so much fun. We should do it again." I wanted to kiss him.. and it felt like he did too. Actually, I knew he wanted to, because he was leaning in. Stupidly, I opened my car door and said -- not realising how rude it is , "I'm so glad we're friends." The expression on his face told me he was extremely confused. "See you tomorrow," I said, getting out of the car and shoving the door so it would shut. I waved and quickly walked to the door. I pulled out my keys and opened it as he drove out of my driveway and back onto the road.

I walked into my house and saw a candlelit dinner at the table. Feeling a hand around my waist behind me, I knew it was Chris kissing my neck. "Do you like it?" he asked softly.

"I love it," I whispered, more to myself than him. He unhinged himself from me and pulled out a chair for me. I sat down. "God, Chris, this is so romantic." I felt extremely guilty for going out with Jimmy. I knew I was blushing, which was not something I do very often. He brought out two plates of fettuchini alfredo (mm.. I'm getting hungry just typing it =) that looked like he had bought it from a restaurant. "Did you make this?"

"No," we laughed. "I went down to the restaurant and told them what I wanted, they said sure, but they charged extra," he joked. I laughed.

"God, I had no idea you had a romantic side like THIS," I said motioning my hands towards all the candles.

He smiled a me. "Um.. where were you?"

"Oh, I went to the movies with a friend." I explained, looking at the delicious food I was eating.

"Cat?" I looked up at him into his eyes. His voice was soft, but stern. "I want you to stop seeing Jimmy, okay?"

Chapter 26
"What do you mean?" I asked, extremely nervous.

"Look, I'm not angry with you or anything, not at all. It's just, you could give me some credit here. Did you think I wouldn't have figured it out?" He was talking normally, he didn't seem angry at all.

"Chris, look, Jim and I are just friends, I don't think of him as anything else," I felt like I was lying, even though I wasn't. God, I'm confused.

"You don't think I've seen you guys flirting on set or anything? Cause I have." He explained. "I'm not asking for a fight, Cat. I'm asking for you to just listen to me for one second." I took a deep breath and waited for him to speak. "Jim thinks your available. He doesn't know you have a boyfried, so he's taking it upon himself to be your boyfriend. I mean the only people who know about us is me and you..." he paused. "And Will."

"Will?" I asked. He tried to continue but I cut him off. "Will? Will who? Ferrell?" He nodded. I shrugged it off.

"Your not angry?" he asked.

"No, my best friends know about us too... do your friends in LA know?" I asked.

"Yeah, just like, 2 though." we were talking so casually, and deep inside I knew our 'romantic' evening was ruined. "But, you see where I'm coming from, right, Cat?"

"Yeah," I said softly, not realizing I said it twice. "But to clear it up, we aren't dating, we are hanging out. I'd never do that to you, baby," I flashed a smile and he smiled back. I knew I was blushing. His mouth. The thing I fell for in the beginning. Unfortunatly, I knew that tonight we would break up. There was something in the atmosphere that was just screaming at me to get it over with. "Chris?"

"Yes, Cat?" he looked up from his food.

"I've been thinking about this for the past month, and.. oh God, how do I put this?" I struggled for the right words.

"Let it out, hun,"

"I don't love you."

Chapter 27
We were silent. "....And?" he asked simply.

"And.. I think we should break up." My mouth was ahead of me now and it took awhile for my brain to function what I was saying. Part of me was living in a fantasy, where Chris and I lived happily ever after. The other part of me was stuck in reality -- the part that broke up with Chris. "God, listen to me, I'm being so rude, did you hear how I put it?" I laughed aloud at myself to ease the tension. "Chris, it's nothing to do with you, because.." I paused trying to search for words. "Well, look around. Your-- I mean, your perfect. What girl in their right mind doesn't want you? Your sweet, caring, romantic, hot, funny... Your just perfect..." we were quiet again and I held my head low, ashamed. "Your just not perfect for me."

He got up from his chair and leaned in and whispered into my ear, saying "I don't love you either. I'd like to stay friends.. close friends." He pushed himself back and stared at me, smiling. I leaned in and kissed him, not sure if it would be the last time or not. I felt him smile as we kissed. Something about it was sweeter than any of our other kisses.

I pulled away and walked to my purse, pulling out my keychain and unhinging his key from mine. He dug into his pockets and did the same, the whole way grinning, as if he were proud of me. We handed our keys back to each other. I walked towards the door and said shyly, as if it were our first date again, "Thank you for dinner,"

I opened the door and he began to walk out in his Suel Forresster waslk, but not before turning around and saying something that sounded like 'You fell in cum'.

I laughed, "What?"

"Your welcome." he said slowy, then proceeded with walking to his car. I closed my door. I waited a second though, hearing the sounds of Chris' car pull out of the driveway. Then, I ran up to my room, picked up the phone, dialed Fawn, Flor', and Audj's numbers for an urgent meeting.

Chapter 28
"Coming," I said over to Jim's door where I heard knocking. I was in such a better mood now. I'm single. It felt weird to think. I opened the door. "Hey, come in. Whatsup?"

"Nothing much.. I um.. I wanted to talk to you about last night." He sat down on the couch, taking off his jacket.

"Oh, yeah? Sure, what about?" I asked, cluelessly. Oh, God... Jim looks totally hot. He paused and blinked at me. I laughed. "You don't know what your here for, do you?" That was when I realized his face was centimeters away from mine. His lips brushed against mine and my back hit the sofa.

"What the fuck is this all about?"

Jim jumped off of me and I brushed my shirt off. Chris was standing in front of my once closed door. "OH! Hey, Kattan.. whatsup?" Jim asked, oblivious to anything. He wiped his mouth off with his shirt sleeve.

"Cat? What the hell are you doing? We just broke up yesterday! You told me you and Jim were just friends.. am I supposed to believe friends do what I just saw?"

"Chris .. it is so not what you think!" I tried to explain.

"Just broke up? You just broke up with what? With who? And just friends? What's that all about??" Jim asked, getting off the couch.

"Oh, it's not what I think? Well then what is it? He was trying to give you mouth-to-mouth??"

"Wait, why is it Cat and I can't kiss?" Jim was completely confused now.

"Chris, what does it matter?? We broke up. I'm allowed to do what I want now, remember?" I hollered.

"Right, we broke up. We broke up. Technically we were never dating though, because throughout the entire 5 fucking months we were together, you were behind my back with Jimmy!"

"5 months??"

"Jimmy and I were NOT dating!" At this point, Jim picked up his jacket, opened the door to his room and slammed it shut.

Chapter 29
My head span as Chris walked out of the other door. I sat for a second. What the fuck did I just do? Oh my God. I let a tear fall until I realized I had to get out of there. I quickly wiped my tear, picked up my purse, and walked out the door. I headed for the door when I was stopped by Will.

"Hey, Cat, where are you running off to?" he smiled.

"Oh, I was gonna go get an Iced Cappuccino from Tim Horton's. I'm addicted to those things," I allowed a fake smile to dance on my face.

"Oh, but we're about to start rehearsal." He looked at me like I was important in tonights show. "Are you alright? Your eyes are kinda watery.." he laughed to make it sound like a joke, but I knew Chris had told him we broke up.

"I'm fine, I'm just a bit pissed that I'm not in the show tonight." I lied through my teeth, and I knew he knew.

"You don't gotta lie to me, hun. Chris told me. Sometimes those things don't work out, and you just gotta deal with it. My wife and I argue all the time, but that doesn't mean we aren't meant to be, yknow? Who knows, maybe you and Kattan are just fighting and you'll be back together in no time." he grinned like what he had just said made any sense. I gave him the most confused look I could come up with.

"Will? What are you talking about? I broke up with Chris." I said, emphasizing the 'I'.

"You did?" I nodded. "Oh." He paused.

I couldn't help but laugh. He was looking around like a total idiot. "But I'm actually pissed I'm not in the show, that's why I'm kinda like this. Thanks for trying to help out though, Will." I said, trying to make him feel like what he said meant anything. Deep inside, I was about to bawl on his shoulder.

"Uh.. yeah, no problem." He laughed. "Bye, Cathy,"

"Later, Will," I waved and walked past him, trying my best to keep calm before I'd burst into tears. I couldn't hold it in any longer. By the time I got to my car, I couldn't hide it, and I cried on my steering wheel.

Chapter 30
"Oh, God, that sucks." Fawn said, moving her hand up and down my back, trying to comfort me.

"Hun, don't worry about it, okay? Everything will smooth out before you know it.," Audra smiled, then glanced at the clock above the TV in my apartment. "It's been an hour, your still out for an iced cappuccino?" she laughed. I couldn't help but laugh with her.

"Maybe you should get back, hun." Flora grinned at me as she played with the bracelet on her wrist.

"I am so sorry I called you guys over here without notice. I didn't know what else to do." I wiped my eyes again. "God, I'm such a fucking baby..." I laughed at myself, and forced a joke. "Waaaahhh..." They laughed with me, though it wasn't funny. "That wasn't funny... I'm losing my sense of humor!" With this, they laughed genuinely. I was feeling better. I gave them all hugs and kisses and we all went our seperate ways again. I promised to call if something happened. Now, I'm back at the studios, watching everyone rehearse.

"I'm not in the show tonight either," Jerry whispered to me. I jumped.

"Oh, hi. Whatsup?" I smiled, then sighed. "I hate having to sit back and watch." I whispered back.

"I guess sometimes it's better this way. We have less work to do." he shrugged.

"Your one of those positive people aren't you?" I joked.

He batted his eyes and said, "Charmed, I'm sure." in a girl's voice. I laughed. "Well, look, I'm gonna go see the writers, I'll see you around, Cathy."

"Later!" I waved. I sighed inwardly. I wanted to get out of here. I was thinking about quitting. I felt a cold hand on my bare arm, as it dragged me into the hallway and into Jimmy's room, where the hand pulled me to Jimmy's body. "Oh my God, you scared the shit out of me," I said, trying to act normal. He wasn't buying it.

"Why can't we give it a shot?"
