| It got dark earlier that evening and the families were still hunting finding that it was a great time to hunt since most animals came out at night. While everyone were whispering to each other about different topics, William spotted another deer and ran off to get a better shot without anyone noticing. He was so close to the deer when he heard growling come from behind him. He turned to find two wolves sneering at him, and when he turned back around he found another two wolves also sneering at him. They each let out a growl from beneath their throats. William couldn�t move for fear had paralyzed him. But he gathered up enough courage to yell out, �Help!� The wolves inched closer. Diana heard William yell for help. Her ears also picked up something else. She raced toward the direction she heard William yell from. There she found William in the middle of a wolf pack of four. William saw another wolf approach cautiously. It waited for a while, but finally the wolf began to battle with the other four. One by one the wolves ran away from the scene. William was still afraid that he sat down next to a log whimpering. As the wolf who fought off the others neared William just scrambled further away. Diana could tell that William was scared so she decided to change back. William�s eyes widened as he saw the wolf before him change into Diana. �What wa�� Was the only thing he could choke out. �So, you now know.� She said. �But�� William pointed around indicating that he was totally confused. �William, I�m half wolf. That�s why I�ve been acting weird. You see when I get mad I change into the wolf half of me. It�s like I�m a werewolf, I also change at the full moon, but I can hold it in sometimes. It also explains why I hate hunting so much. I�m part animal. Every time you kill an animal you kill apart of me �cause you�re killing my family.� Diana told William. �Is� Is that why you� You always ran away?� William asked shaking. �Yeah, this is were I belong.� She said. �Well, I better get going since your family is coming.� Diana got up and was about to leave when William called out, �Wait! You can�t leave you have a family now, the Reeds.� �There not my family, they never will. Plus they won�t understand.� Diana said. �They will, we can get you help.� William tried to convince Diana. �No, they won�t! I belong here anyway. Here I can be myself. I can be human and wolf.� Diana changed into the wolf again and ran off leaving William. But before he lost sight of her he heard her say, �you better have learned your lesson William. �Cause you would be dead by now if it wasn�t for me.� |
