Chapter 18
Stacy returned to Christian with her arms full of twigs. She placed them down on the ground and arranged them to make a fire. You dont happen to have some matches on you, do you? She asked her husband. He shook his head no. Stacy sighed heavily and turned back to the twigs.
I can do this, I learned this in Girl Guides. Now how do you make a fire without matches or rubbing the damn sticks together? She asked herself. I didnt know you were in the Girl Guides. Christian said behind her. Yeah, I was in the 4th and 5th grade when I was in Girl Guides. She replied. When she turned to look at Christian she saw that he had glass buttons on his shirt.
She pulled off on of his buttons. I have to use this. I can sew it back on when I have a chance too, I promise. Stacy said at the confused face Christian had on. The storm had quieted down some so there was just enough light for her to use. She slanted the button on an angle trying to catch some of the light. Once the light hit the button she held it there until the twigs began to burst with flames. Soon she had a large fire going to keep them warm for the night.
Stacy sat back down next to Christian with a smile on her face. Now I know that those two years in Girl Guides werent just a waste of time. She said. Christian smiled with pride at his wife.
