The MOMS Club began in 1983 when Mary James, an at home mother in California decided she was tired of being alone at home. She wanted to meet other at home mothers and wanted to find other at home children for her children to play with. When she discovered there were no other organizations that met during the day and allowed her to come with her baby and preschooler, she decided to start a brand new organization just for at home mothers, and the MOMS club was born. Our Sierra Madre chapter was established in 2003. There are chapters worldwide.

Meetings and Events:

All our meetings, activities and events (with the exception of MOMS night out) take place during the day when at home MOMS need the most support.
Monthly business meetings are a time when we can socialize, discuss upcoming club activities, and benefit from informative guest speakers and discussion topics.

Our once monthly field trips, and weekly playgroups provide opportunities for you to get out with the kids for some fun! Field trips have taken us to the zoo, to local indoor play centers, and wilderness parks. With playgroups available for all ages, you and your children are sure to find great friends who you can see every week.

We believe being a mother shouldn’t isolate you, so you may bring your children with you to anything we do. You don’t have to bring your children but they’re always welcome. Occasionally we have volunteer members watching older children (such as when we have guest speakers or other “business” to attend to); babies are always welcome to stay with their moms, and you may always nurse at any of our events.

Service Projects:

Our service projects allow us to give back to the community with both monetary donations and volunteer opportunities. Recent projects include a yard sale to benefit Hurricane Katrina survivors, a fund-raiser to supply Diaper Genies to a local battered women's shelter, and a holiday food drive.

Dues:

Our dues are $25 a year and pay for our room rentals, supplies and other general overhead. You’re invited to attend two MOMS Club functions (such as meetings and park days) before you commit to join. We understand that being an at-home mom often means a tight family budget, so if dues are a problem, please talk to any of our officers to work something out.

Come check us out!

Our chapter is always open to new members, so come to our next meeting or park day. You probably won’t be the only new member there. Although some of us have lived here for years and are experienced moms, many of us are new to town or new to motherhood! But we all have one thing in common -- the MOMS Club introduced us to other at-home moms ... the ones who soon became our friends.
