| History: The MOMS Club® began in California in 1983. It was born out of a need for one stay-at-home mom, Mary James, to find support and friendship for herself and her children. When she discovered that there were no organizations in which she could participate during the day and bring her children, she decided to start MOMS Club (MOMS Offering Moms Support®). Since then the International MOMS Club® has grown tremendously! Mission Statement: The International MOMS Club is an international, nonprofit organization whose main objective is to provide support for mothers who stay home to raise their children. Burnsville Chapter: The Burnsville Chapter was founded in 1995. In 2003, the Burnsville Club split into two clubs and formed the MOMS Club of Burnsville - North and the MOMS Club of Burnsville - South. In 2008, the two clubs merged again. Now there is one united Burnsville chapter. Our goals include giving moral support and friendship to at-home-mothers, providing a forum for topics of interest to women, giving mothers a voice in the community and performing service projects, especially ones benefiting children and families. | Women must be free to choose their own personal path to fulfillment. For women who choose it, raising children is an important and fulfilling full-time job. A family's decision for a mother to stay home involves considerable financial sacrifice. There is no one right way to raise children, but the major reason for members to get together is their desire to find mothers with a common concern for raising their children in the best possible and most healthful way. Children are a community's greatest resource, and a community's concern for its children is demonstrated by the quality of its schools. |
