| This is to tell you about Girl's story. I watched this dog for several months and finally approached the owner about letting me have her. It took a few months before he finally gave her up. She was living in horrible conditions. She was caged in a chain link enclosure on the dirt without a roof. Sometimes it would be days before he came home to feed the animals. She had outgrown the enclosure and had enough room to turn around but not a "clean" spot to lay in!! She had numerous internal parasites that would have starved her to death in 6 months. She has heartworms, too. Girl had so many fleas that she suffered from anemia. When I got her she weighed 64 pounds!! She is a Dogo Argentino. I didn't realize what kind of dog she was but I have since learned alot about this incredible breed. She suffers from severe lack of socialization and thus has alot of fears and anxieties. Thankfully she doesn't react with aggression. She is fed biologically appropriate raw foods (BARF) and gets several natural supplements in her food. She is also getting an herbal supplement for the heartworms. She has calmed down alot now and is used to car rides, screaming playful kids, walking on tile floors, and most visitors. She went through a rough detoxification in the beginning and subsequently developed a urinary infection. But she is making wonderful progress and is gaining weight nicely. She needs to weigh about 95 pounds and we're getting there!!! |
