OK Back to the event - the time was approaching when Vincent was going to be introduced by Mary Lou, Sunny, and Colleen. I was actually standing in the back by the door when he sauntered in. I am STILL always amazed at how my brain just shuts down and your eyes settle on this man. I literally think brain function ceases in my body and I focus on nothing but him. He has a presence that makes me feel like I am in a Twilight Zone for a few minutes. This character I watch on a TV show seems to step out into the real world....and it is my world! |

He welcomes everyone and expresses his gratitude and then it is time to draw the names of the 5 lucky girks who will get to "Dish with David" over lunch. He draws tickets one by one, and you see each person get excited and rush over to sit at the table. Of course, he calls one number and no one is responding. Iris is at a back table, "I lost my tickets!" They then pull another number and Lo & Behold IT'S ME!!!!! I froze with anxiety. I was lucky enough to eat with the man once, but now I have to go sit at the table. Will I make it across the room without tripping?? I was so shaken and people were saying "aren't you excited?" I was just sooo nervous. Don't ask me why?! I was grateful that I sat down and Iris found her ticket so she sat next to me. GOOD a person I know I can at least talk to. AHHH now the awkward phase begins... |

Vincent was very sweet and gracious to each of us lucky girks at the table. To his left were Kelly & Tracy, who I believe were part of Habitat, then Love, Lyla, Iris, myself, another Kelly, and Inge (who was to his right). He made some idle chatter and I sense he was a little nervous at first too! |

He sort of went around the table and welcomed each person individually, asking where we were from. When he got to me, he smiled like he remembered me but I swear he does not know my NAME! LOL (Remember my name tag was under my sweater) He was actually sweet enough to ask how my health was. **My heart melted** |

The table was a really nice mix of locals and us out-of-towners. Some FOVI, some not. A few GL fans, a few AMC fans. Some one mentioned about how horrible the traffic was due to the Mets/Pirates game and we discussed Pittsburgh for awhile. He then asked what each of us did for a living. I couldn't hear what Kelly or Tracy said, though I think she is the president of Judy Beth Evans fan club and would love to have a joint fan gathering. Love is a devoted mom, and sells Pampered Chef. She was was sooo excited to be sitting at the table, as she had travelled alone. She said she never wins anything (I am sure this made up for all those losses) Lyla was a nurse. Iris spoke of how she had recently been laid off from a job that she had been at for 13 years ( Iris you really seemed to handle this well. I thought my world fell apart when it happened to me) Kelly was a Fed Ex Customer Representative, and Inge sells hospital products. He then spoke highly of Fed Ex and how they are reliable and have excellent customer service. Priority Mail never seems to get there on time. HMMMMM Now could he give us an example of BAD customer service? |

Vincent recently (about 4 months ago) purchased a new Dell computer (picture a black computer in a home office). He had it set up and ordered more RAM (heehee) because he likes to do things with videos and music on the computer so he needed more space. The RAM arrives, he calls technical support, who proceed to direct him over the phone how to install the chip. [NOW, for a minute, envision you are the "technical support" person on the phone and Vincent is on the ground taking apart his computer (I thought of this as he told this story and had a good laugh)] After he puts everything together and turns his computer on - it dies! He has blown the motherboard. He has now for the last few months been trapped in DELL HELL trying to rectify the whole thing. I have heard of several similar stories and we personally sent our computer back after 6 months of no one knowing anything. Our credit card company finally got our money back. He said he speaks to a different person everytime and has threatened to make this a PR nightmare since he works for ABC. He just might have to wear a Tshirt that says "DELL Sucks!" on it and wear it to an event where his picture would be in all the mags. He is now just waiting for the new RAM again but his computer is working. |

He is amazed at how his daughter who is 3 1/2 has picked up computer skills. She knows how to hold a CD on her finger and start up a game. His wife Avalon knows how to check her email, and he just figured out how to send attachments. |

Love asked if he gets recognized alot, and how his children react. He laughed as he said his daughter would get a kick out of daddy being on the chocolates, and when he was on a magazine cover, it was cute, but sometimes they do get overwhelmed like at the "Annie Get Your Gun" premeire. There were a ton of people swarming them, and it can be very intimidating. They had to be escorted out by security. |

Is he going to be performing in other venues, like "Tuesday's with Morrie" His face lit up as he spoke about Tuesdays. They did not get to rehearse much but he spoke highly of Jerry Stiller. Everyone thinks of him as George's outrageous father on Seinfeld, but he is actually a very gentle man. He was excited he had been asked to sing at a Cabaret on June 10th, and in Carnegie Hall on June 20th. Both are charity events. He said he won't get many opportuniities to sing in a venue like Carnegie Hall many times in your life. |

I opened my big mouth and asked if everyone on the set was excited about all of the Emmy nominations. He said they were all proud of their work. There are some great scenes coming up. He was very excited about the scenes from March 30th (Friday) and asked if we had seen them. He felt that David & Dixie had some pivotal scenes that were very well written. He does foresee that David's character is "redeemable" to which I said "NOOO Please don't make him TOO redeemable. We love David being bad" He laughed and said that was what makes the character interesting and fun to play. They can take him so far, and there are so many possibilities. |

How does he memorize all those lines? He feels that acting goes beyond this. That there is give & take. It is about listening and reacting. He visualizes where the scene is supposed to go. Some sets such as Y&R use teleprompters but he feels it is an insult as an actor. AMC does not use cues or prompters. |

It was now time for a quick break and then the Q&A session to start. I will say this about eating lunch with Vincent. He amazes me how he maintains eye contact and makes you feel as though he cares what you think personally. You feel like you are the focus. I think he genuinely does appreciate his fans. |

Q & A |
Vincent opened up the floor for questions and everyone sat quietly at first. He said "OK, I'll go now." I was in my benedryl/VI haze at this point so I will just categorize questions. |
David questions: Is David Suicidal? (I have no clue where this came from) Vincent actually seemed taken aback by this question. He said No, he is not suicidal, maybe just struggling with his will to fight. |
Vincent then asked again about who had seen Friday's episode. He was very proud of the scenes and felt they were well written. "revealing and honest" to the characters. There were a lot of groans about D&D and he said he knows there are also alot of T&D fans but feels that conflict is important for the characters or it gets very boring. BRAVO I am glad this was coming from him. |
Someone asked if David was possibly Leo's father? There was a huge amount of laughter, and Vincent acted like he had never heard this before. "What show are you watching honey?"
Who would he like to see his character linked with romantically? Rebecca Budig (Greenlee) actually went to TPTB a few months ago to pitch an idea of her getting involved with David for a love triangle. (RaisinKane, Did we not already suggest this hence the "Dew Me Brothers"?) He thought their characters are similar and it would be great for the brothers also.
Cady challenges him, he loves that he gets to interact with the majority of the cast, much more so than many others.
Laurie at some point teased, "PLEASE move onto other topics since so many of us hate this storyline" He joked well he MUST move on since LAURIE wants the conversation to go away from AMC. |

So what did he say about D&E? |
