Seeds

You can collect seeds by buying them from Olivia in Draynor, the GE, the General shop, or other players. You can get them from monster drops, by picking vegetables, or stealing from Master Farmers or seed stalls. You can even get tree seeds from the occasional bird nest.

Master Farmers are located in Draynor Market in the stall area, North of Ardougne by the potato and wheat field, and South of Varrock by Dark Wizards. The seed stalls are located in Draynor Market.

Allotment patches take 3 seeds.
Herbs, flowers and bushes take 1 seed to plant.
Hops take 4 seeds, except for Jute, which only takes 3 for some reason.

Allotments, Flowers and Herbs

To plant allotment seeds, you will need to find an allotment patch. There is always a compost bin, two allotments (the long rectangle patches), one herb patch (square patch) and one flower patch (square patch in the middle) at an allotment patch.

You must have three allotment seeds to plant allotments. Herbs only take one seed.

Flowers require you to be a level 2 in farming in order to plant them. Have no worries, because it usually only takes a little weed raking, planting potatoes and watering to get to level 2. The flowers help protect the patch from becoming diseased. Marigolds protect potatoes, onions and tomatoes. Rosemary protects cabbage and Nasturtiums will protect watermelons.

Goutweed can be obtained sneaking past Troll guards in the storeroom under the kitchen (during and after the Eadgar's Ruse quest) and by digging up Gout tubers during the Tai Bwo Wannai Cleanup minigame and planting them as herb seeds.
It is a needed item in both the Dream Mentor and Eadgar's Ruse quests.
In My Arm's Big Adventure you will help the trolls learn to grow goutweed again.
It can be grown after completion of the Eadgar's Ruse quest.

Hops

Hop patches are not in the same area as Allotment, Flower and Herb patches are.

You will need four seeds to plant a Hop field. Jute only requires three seeds for planting.

Hops are used for brewing ales. Although Jute is a Hop, the fibres can be used with a loom to weave sacks.

Ten Jute fibres can be used to bribe a farmer to watch over a patch of sweetcorn.

Seed Quantity to Plant: four, except for Jute which takes three

Trees

First you will need your Garden trowel to plant a seed in the Plant pot. You can either buy a filled Plant pot from a Farming Shop, or you can use an empty one on any garden patch to fill it with dirt. After planting the seed, water the pot, and not long after, it will begin to grow into a sapling. You will then transfer the sapling to a Tree Patch with a spade.

You will not need to water your tree patch. If a tree gets diseased, you will need to use your secateurs on the tree to remove the diseased portions. Once it is healthy and matured, you will have to chop it down. Then you will need to use your spade to removed the stump in order to replant. You will receive tree roots that can be used for many different things, including supercompost.

*Note, if you pay a gardener to watch over your tree, you will not get the roots.

Seed Quantity to Plant: One
First use a Garden trowel on any cleared Farming patch with an empty Plant pot in your inventory to fill the plant pot with soil.
Then plant the Tree seed in the pot.
After the seed is planted in the pot, water it with a watering can. It will grow into a seedling.
After a few minutes, the seedling will grow into a sapling which can then be transplanted in a Tree patch with your Spade.
The seeds are unable to become diseased while growing in a Plant pot.
However, once planted in the patch, they can become diseased and need to be protected.
Note* Neither seedlings nor saplings are tradeble.

Fruit Trees

Fruit trees are planted on special Fruit tree patches. Apply the same planting procedures as you do with trees.

Each tree will produce six fruits. If you pick the fruit and leave the tree, it will produce more. If your tree becomes diseased while under the care of a farmer, it will no longer grow and you will need to clear the patch and replant.

First use a Garden trowel on any cleared Farming patch with an empty Plant pot in your inventory to fill the plant pot with soil.
Then plant the Fruit tree seed in the pot.
After the seed is planted in the pot, water it with a watering can. It will grow into a seedling.
After a few minutes, the seedling will grow into a sapling which can then be transplanted in a Fruit tree patch with your Spade.

Bushes

Bushes can only be planted at Bush patches. Bush patches do not need watering, but they can still become diseased, so take care of them.

There are six types of bushes you can plant: Redberry, Cadavaberry, Dwellberry, Jangerberry, White Berry and Poison Ivy.

There are four Bush patch locations. Varrock, west of the Champions Guild; Rimmington, just northwest of the General Shop; South West Etceteria; and South of Ardougne.

Each bush will produce four berries. If you pick them and leave the bush, it will produce more.

Specials

All special patches require a farming Level of 42 and higher. There are seven Special patches you can grow. They are the Spirit Tree, Cactus, Jade Vine, Belladonna, Calquat tree, Bittercap mushrooms, and the Evil Turnip.

Belladonna does not grow back once it's harvested. You also must wear gloves when picking the fruit or you will receive damage.

Like any other bush or fruit tree, the Cactus and Calquat tree will grow back and you will be able to pick the fruit again after a few hours.

Cactus Spines are used to make Extra Strong Weapon Poison, while Nightshade is used to make Super Strong Weapon Poison.

You can carve out the Calquats to make kegs which you can then fill with 8 doses of any beer.

The Jade Vine can only be grown in the west patch in front of Lord Handelmort's mansion, in East Ardougne after completing the Back to my Roots quest. Farmer Horacio is growing one in the east patch, if you ask him, he'll watch over yours for a fee. If you don't keep the vine pruned, it becomes a level 167 Wild Jade Vine, earning you 2500 Slayer Exp for killing the Wild Jade Vine and 202 Woodcutting in addition to the combat experience. This process can be repeated about every 15 hours (the time it takes to grow a mature jade vine, plus the time it takes to become a Wild Jade Vine.)
Within 1/2 and hour, a branch will appear and be ready for pruning (can grow up to 5 branches). Pruning it will give you 30 Farming Exp.

Bittercap mushrooms can only be grown in a special patch in Morytania near the Mort Myre swamp. They do not grow back once you harvest them.

You can only have one Spirit Tree grown at a time.
