Rolling Stones have canceled their planned concert in
Belgrade due to security concerns. The Belgrade-based Komuna
agency, which booked the Stones in the Serbian capital, said
the group felt that their safety could be at risk after the
March 12 slaying of pro-democracy prime minister Zoran
Djindjic.

Hawk's Boom Boom HuckJam tour will be back for a second
round in the fall. The action sports/music outing will kick
off Oct. 2 in Vancouver and visit 28 cities before closing
Nov. 16 in Tampa, Fla. Other than house DJ Aero, music acts

veteran Jay Farrar will release a new, 23-track studio
album, "Terroir Blues" on June 24. Marking the
debut release through his own Act/Resist imprint via
Artemis, the former Uncle Tupelo/Son Volt principal's
forthcoming disc will be comprised of new originals,
instrumental pieces, and alternate takes recorded in late
2002 and early 2003.

judge tossed out a charge of battery against entertainer Lou
Rawls, who had been accused of shoving his girlfriend at an
Albuquerque, N.M., hotel. Prosecutors then told the judge
there was insufficient evidence to proceed with the case and
the charge was dismissed, Rawls' publicist said.

Rock
musician Noel Redding, best known for his stint as the
bassist of the Jimi Hendrix Experience, was found dead
Sunday at his home in Ireland of unknown causes, his manager
Ian Grant has confirmed to Billboard.com. He was 57.
Redding, an accomplished guitarist based in the U.K., joined
Hendrix's band in 1966 and played on the three Jimi Hendrix
Experience albums -- writing two songs as well as playing
bass -- before parting ways with the legendary guitarist in
1969.

federal appeals court in Detroit yesterday revived a lawsuit
by civil rights icon Rosa Parks against the rap group
Outkast over a song that uses her name for its title. A
federal judge in Detroit had dismissed Parks' lawsuit in
1999 over the song "Rosa Parks," saying Outkast's
use of her name was protected by free speech, and the group
did not need to compensate her.

is in the midst of preparations for its upcoming world tour,
and according to a post by frontman Michael Stipe on the
group's official Web site, the band has already rehearsed 70
songs. The tour starts June 27 at the U.K.'s Glastonbury
Festival and will wrap Oct. 11 in Atlanta, about 70 miles
west of the group's Athens, Ga., homebase.

Lisa
Marie Presley will hook up with crooner Chris Isaak for a
number of dates on his summer tour. Presley will open from a
July 11 show in Boston through an Aug. 9 appearance in
Minneapolis. The run includes a stop at the Botanic Garden
in Presley's childhood hometown, Memphis, Tenn.

musical "Hairspray" nabbed 13 nominations to lead
the field for the 57th annual Tony Awards. Dance musical
"Movin' Out," based on the songs of Billy Joel,
earned 10 nods. Both will compete for the best musical

worldwide with Universal Music International, returned to

singer June Carter Cash, the wife and duet partner of Johnny
Cash, was hospitalized in critical condition Saturday as a
result of complications from heart surgery, according to
their longtime manager, Lou Robin. Cash, 73, had the surgery
on Wednesday at Nashville's Baptist Hospital to replace a
valve.

catalog label Legacy is launching a line of two-disc
reissues, expanding on several revered recordings, in step
with Universal Music Enterprises' (UME) revered "Deluxe
Editions." The series will be initiated July 29 with
the release of Jeff Buckley's "Live at Sin-e,"
Muddy Waters' "Muddy Mississippi Waters Live," the
Byrds' "Sweetheart of the Rodeo," and a "West
Side Story" title combining the musical's Broadway cast
recording and the original motion picture soundtrack. All
carry a $29.98 retail list price.

and Kelly Osbourne are in the midst of leaving Sony Music,
with whom the hard rock family has been associated since
1980. "We've had 23 great years together," family
matriarch/manager Sharon Osbourne said in a statement.

a philosophy that every record company, especially Sony,

American leg of Mariah Carey's Charmbracelet World Tour. As

script for the long-awaited Tenacious D feature film,
"Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny," is about
halfway complete, co-writer/director Liam Lynch tells
Billboard.com. Shooting will hopefully begin by the end of
the year for the film, which Lynch says "follows the
stages the D had to go through, as well as one of their
first character-building quests, to help prepare them to be
the greatest band in the world."
