Her dress

A simple gown from Daniel Yan was brought before her secondment to Shanghai in October 2006.

Initially, the idea was to tailor a gown/ dress in China, but we had our reservations about the Chinese tailors as we were unsure about their designs and workmanship. To ensure a smooth process, copying a gown would have been easier but sample would need to be provided, hence the idea was dropped.

Indeed, some gowns seen in China were done up  with "cheap" lace and sequins which seem to fit better on a "ge tai" than the solemnization venue, hence she was happy she had a simple, elegant gown. Guess she just did not have the lobang for a reliable tailor.

But well, her cousins were worried if the gown fit after seeing her balloon after her secondment.

(Shanghai is a gourmet paradise, I suppose...)

Tip: Suzhou has cheap gowns and a bridal gown complete with long trains are offered at less than SGD 200.

His suit and the boy's little suit

In order to maintain the same champagne theme to match her dress, his (Wai Leong's) and the boy's (Bride's cousin- Jun's) suit were tailored in Shanghai after the satin champagne material was chosen at a Shanghai cloth marlet. The suits were made relatively cheaper in Shanghai and the little boy had a cuff-linked shirt exactly the same as Wai Leong's.

However, guess the little boy's suit will only be worn a few more times before he grows again.

But I must say, we liked his smart look with the cute little bow tie.

The complete champagne set for the three of us:

 Boy's little shoes

Somehow, sometime during the dinner, this shot was taken, where the little shoes matching the little suit were found lying on the floor.

Guess it's not easy trying to look smart....

The rings which sealed our destinee

The rings were customized at Fairy's Inc at the bride's request and it sure did not come cheap given that it had a total of 0.4+ carats and were a set of black gold rings.

For those who did not know the engravings, here it is:

"Love walked in  21.2.07  Wai Leong        Ching Lin "

Ring Pillow

The ring pillow was a last minute purchase from Tecman at Bras Basah. To save costs, the small, simple ring pillow was chosen.

Pls see details below on why we wanted to save costs on the ring pillow.

What you didn't know:

Well, what you did not see at the ROM was a ring pillow ordered and customized by the bride in Shanghai.

It was specifically ordered by the bride and done up by a tailor in Shanghai, as she wanted to have their names and the ROM date embroidered onto the pillow. Also, cost of producing a ring pillow should be cheap, especially when the tailor said: "The embroidery is not worth it, it will cost RMB 20." But to the bride, RMB 20 was SGD 4 and this was far cheaper than online embroidered ring pillows of SGD 80 which she had searched for.

However, the hand made ring pillow was less than  satisfactory with the ring pillow being too flat and not fluffy enough. Also, the flowers colour were indian-ish to her. The ring pillow also did not have ribbons long enough to tie the rings together. As such, RMB 50 was wasted on an unused ring pillow which was never shown to the public.

Don't believe what I said, have a look at it here.

The Necklace

This necklace was bought in Shanghai with Jieying to match the dress and glam it up.

However, he was sweet enough to buy her a new necklace and hence this glam (fake) necklace was used as a hair accessory instead.
