| Like everything in the world, you can't please everybody.
This is one of those cases. There was always opposition to the Metro project.
After they became firmly established as the preferred way of life, the opposition
grew. Most groups are based in the outer regions of the world, places no one else
wants to live. They play hit and run on transports and shipping convoys. Every
once in a while they attack a Botanica or sprawl directly. Since the police state, such
occurrences are rare. This does not mean that all such groups are from outside the
cities. Some, often the most violent are from within the Metros themselves.
These groups are composed of sprawl dwellers who don't think the world is being
fair. Many of their attacks are aimed at the upper levels and the Go-gos.
Seldomly do such attacks succeed. The poison cloud hinders many such events, and the
increased patrols make attacking the upper levels virtually impossible.
Some high profile activist groups:
Sacred Flame - A fundamentalist group
mainly concerned with the unholy use of technology in the Metros. Their actions are
mostly concerned with anti-technology and industry terrorism
Keep's Harbingers - Mostly an overactive
biker gang. This group of thugs is known for subway destruction and general mayhem
with public works. They have no respect for property or life. Death is a funny
incident to them.
W. U. (World Unification) - A self
proclaimed radicalist government group. Many of their actions cause more damage to
the political structure then the current administration. They oppose the centralized
government of the world claiming it is too far removed from its people.
The Knit - Unknown. Suspected to be
a group of high-powered hackers that unleash monstrous viruses on the global network.
Crisis - A non-metro based alliance of
free states. They pose no threat to the current order and have been treated as such. |
