RACE
STORIES:
-------------
My car VS 97 Honda Civic Vtec [Jeff Cockerham]
Jefferson City, MO ~9:00p.m.
Well is was out cruising the blvd one night with friend
Isaac. We drove past a plaza where all of us hang out
after it gets dark on the weekends. Well a couple of my
friends were there so Isaac and I decided to stop by and
say whats up. My friend jeff was there with another
friend of mine, Corey. I was feeling like driving fast so
I jokingly told Jeff we should race. Well, he said ok and
we started down the blvd. I pulled up to the stop light
discussing my launch with Isaac. He said that I should
launch at about 3500rpms. I was like "no way"
way to many r's buddy. So here comes Jeff pullin up on my
left side. We sat there for a second Jeff's music is
blaring and him and Corey ask me if I'm ready. Well I rev
my car up to about ~2300rpm, and when the light turns
green I dumped the clutch. I just sat there and spun my
tires. Jeff had already taken off. Finally I grabbed
traction and took off, by the next light I was pulling on
my friend in his Civic with an aftermarket air intake. I
was like a car length and a half behind him when he drove
through the next stop light. DAMN I lost!!!! Oh well, it
was just a little friendly competition. Maybe next time.
My car VS 94 Pontiac Firebird V6 [mods] [Jesse Fritz]
Jefferson City, MO ~12:30a.m.
Well all of my closest friends are hanging out over at my
friend Rocky's apartment, and we just got finished
watching the Fast and the Furious so naturally we wanted
to drive really fast. Jesse hollas across the living room
at me, "Modem! wanna run 'em?" So I said sure
and we got in our cars, along with some andy guy that
drives a white 2000 Civic. We drove out towards Jamestown
on this straight stretch that was almost 2.5 miles long
exactly. We made a pass to see how the road conditions
were, and then we went and lined up at one end of the
straight stretch. Andy [I'll call him Andy dude] sat
about half way down the road and it was his job to flash
his lights if he saw a car coming. Well Jesse and I are
ready to race and pumped up. He says on the count of
three we go, well he counts to three and we both take
off. I had the same problem again!!! DAMMIT! no traction.
I finally caught traction and didn't leave his back
quarter panel. We ran all the way up to about 85-95Mph
before we stopped. He beat me [I really need to work on
my launch] Oh well, like I always say "Theres always
another race".
My car VS 2000 Civic [Auto/Vtec/no mods] [Andy dude]
Jefferson City, MO ~1:15a.m.
On the way back to Jeff City after my race with Jesse, me
and this Andy dude turned off on to this new road by a
strip of road we call twilight. I waited for him at a
stop light right before this gigantic stretch of open
road. I light turned green and I just barely took off.
Andy goes flying by me [he didn't have to stop, I was
waiting for him] Up ahead you see his breaklights come
on. Well it was me and Rocky this time. I pulled up next
to Andy dude in third gear runnin about 25mph. I heard
his car downshift, so I jerked it down into second gear.
I took off! Andy couldn't catch up to me. [my car runs
better if you are already moving] A little down the road
we decided to run them again at about 40mph, and yet I
killed him again [this was with my stock muffler] But I
guess I can't say that Andy dude didn't put up a good
race, it was fun, and it is only a game.
My car VS 94 Mitsubishi Eclipse [Stock/Auto] [Rocky
Martin]
California, MO ~11:00p.m.
Me and my friend Rocky were chillin at my friend James'
House one night last week and we just decided that we
should run our cars. Rocky was always saying that we had
the "same" cars so mine wouldn't be any faster
than his. Eventhough I have a header, exhaust, and an
intake [basically], and a five speed he still didn't
believe me. Well we went to this straight stretch that
was about 3/4 of a mile long. So we lined em up and James
said go. The first race I took him by storm, he decided
that he should launch in second gear :) I was walking car
lengths on him!! It was great. The second time we raced
he decided to start out in first gear like he should. I
had a perfect launch! No wheel spin. I pulled on him at
first but at an upwards of 100mph he stayed right at the
back of my passenger side door. It was a great race.
