An Alien body buried in the church cemetery; a 'Big-Foot'
like creature in the local woods; cybernetic badgers with glowing red eyes.... Hogwash or frightening fact?  These are just three of the strange reports that have turned Modbury into the paranormal capital of Great Britain.
"THE CRASH"
This year is the 40th anniversary of what is referred to by locals as "The Crash".  During the long hot summer of 1963, Modbury skies were seemingly full of unidentified flying objects.  Locals were terrorised by strange glowing disks which "buzzed" the town.  Then, one evening as the heat wave broke and gave way to a ferocious storm, a bolt of lightning struck a strange airship causing it to crash into a barn.
Amongst the wreckage was found a lone alien lifeform which survived the explosion but was run-through with a pitch fork by local farmer, Whitner 'Peg-Leg' Bissel (see artists impression).  Until the day he died, Bissel refused to talk about the incident.  Only on his death bed did he make the intriguing comment that: "Them critters once did something to my bum". The locals buried the creature in Modbury church cemetery under a fake headstone to avoid a media frenzy occurring in the town.  Fragments of the spacecraft are held by the Modbury Local History Society who refuse to let anyone study them or the strange hieroglyphic symbols they are said to contain.
In his book, 'Not From Round Here Then?', renowned U.F.O. researcher Rick Bishop wrote:
"When I was working for the M.o.D. I saw files relating to the Modbury crash of 1963 and the Government were clearly very worried about this intrusion into our airspace."
Forty years on we can only wonder if the aliens will pay Modbury a return visit and if they do will they come as friend or foe?  Fortunately for the aliens, Whitner Bissel died twenty-two years ago so they should be quite safe to land.
THE BIGBURY BIG FOOT
In recent months, Modbury has once again become subject to some strange phenomena.  Most of Devon and Cornwall has had sightings of 'Big Cats' but only Bigbury can claim to have its own equivalent of the American 'Sasquatch' orr 'Big Foot' creature.  On March 20th, this year, Bigbury resident Abe Grympe (42) was taking his dog for a walk in a local field.
"Suddenly my dog - Cornball, started acting all funny like.  He began a-cowerin and a-whimperin like and then he ran off home.  As I turned to follow him a big furry man with huge clawed feet burst out of some bushes and ran towards me.  I tried to move but I was rooted to the spot.  Then the beast barged past me - knocking me over - and when I got up It was gone. I fair needed a change of underwear I can tell ee."
THE STRANGE CASE OF THE CYBER BADGERS
In the same area, a man who refuses to be named (as he admits he was poaching at the time) came across  a 'flying saucer' that had landed in a field.  He further observed a "small grey man with large eyes" holding a box which seemed to be controlling the movements of some badgers at his feet.  "I could see their little eyes glowing like laser beams... I think as they were robots of some kind." When the alien saw him the poacher took off in fright.
THE TRUTH IS OUT THERE!
Could it be that aliens are conducting some strange clandestine experiment in Modbury?  Have we become lab rats to be poked and prodded in some celestial laboratory?  Are we safe?  Only you the public can help to find out by petitioning our local MP to ask questions in the Houses of Parliament.  Write to him now and demand some answers
