Gus Hineman
and Mary Antoine
Gus Hineman, the son of Smith Hineman and Elizabeth Moby, was born February 1884 in Michigan. He married Mary Antoine in 1907. She was born about 1889 in Michigan.
He was listed with his parents on the 1900 United States Census. Gus and Mary are listed on the Durant Roll as
residing in Copenish.
Gus and Mary were listed together on the 1920 Census living with his
parents in Elicisor
Township, Kalkaska
County, Michigan. They had their two children, David and
Christina, with them at that time also.
Gus and Mary were listed together on the 1930 United States
Federal Census in Muskegon, Muskegon
County, Michigan. Gus was listed as 44 years old and Mary as
40. It showed that they were first
married at the age of 21 and 17, respectively.
They were renting their home for 28 dollars a month. Their two children David, age 21, and
Christina, age 18, were living with them.
All members of the family were born in Michigan. “Full Blooded Ottawa” is written in the
spaces reserved for their parents’ place of birth, for each member as
well. Gus worked in the receiving room
of the radio factory, David was a truck driver in a factory, and Christina was
a waitress in a boarding house.
