James Crampton and Lucy Wabsie

 

James Crampton, the son of Foster Crampton and Angenlin Mawby, was born April 1888 in Michigan.  He married Lucy Wabsie in 1915 in Grand Traverse County, Michigan.  Lucy Wabsie was born about 1898 in Michigan.  James is listed with his parents in the 1900 and 1910 United States Census. 

 

James and Lucy are listed together on the 1920 United States Census for Eden Township, Mason County, Michigan living next to James’ father Foster Crampton.  James, age 30, was listed as a laborer.  Lucy was listed as 22 years old.  They had three children: Clara, age 4, Lena, age 2, and John, age 1.  All members of the family were born in Michigan. 

 

James and Lucy Crampton are listed together again on the 1930 United States Census for Muskegon, Michigan residing on North Webster Avenue.  They are renting their home for $5 per month.  James, age 40, is listed as a laborer working odd jobs.  Lucy is listed at age 32.  It shows that James was 25 when he first married, and that Lucy was 17.   They have six children living with them: Clara, age 14, Lena, age 12, John, age 11, Elbert, age 9, Foster, age 6, and Max, age 1 and 7 months.  All members of the family have Michigan listed as their birthplace.  In the place reserved for parents birthplace is listed Full Blood Ottawa.  Foster and Max were also listed as inmates at the Muskegon Children’s Home.
