Championships is the third and final stop of the 2001 VansTriple Crown of Skateboarding.
As an invitation only event, it promises toshowcase top talent from
around the world. Scheduled to compete are GeoffRowley, Willy Santos, Bob Burnquist,
Steve Caballero and Cara BethBurnside, to name a few. Stop #1 of the Vans Triple Crown of Skateboarding was Vancouver, where the Vans Slam City Jam made its annual presence known. The action was great, as Bob Burnquist took home first place honors in Vert, with Rune Glifberg and Bucky Lasek rounding out the top three. On the street course, it was Erik Koston riding away with the top spot, with Colt Cannon and Rick McCrank finishing second and third.On the women's side, Vanessa Torres skated her way to first place honors onthe street. Her run was enough to edge out Stefanie Thomas and Jamie Reyeswho finished second and third. Stop #2, the Mountain Dew National Championships returned to Cleveland,Ohio for the second year, and despite some sketchy weather, provided thecrowds with awesome street and Vert action. Rune Glifberg raised the barin the Vert, improving on his second place finish at Slam City to take hometop honors. Skate veteran Andy Macdonald and Pierre-Luc Gagnon rounded outthe top three. On the men's street course Chad Bartie was that much betterthan Kristian Svitak and Pat Channita in winning top men's honor. For the ladies, it was almost d�j� vu, as Vanessa Torres again took the tophonors, with Stefanie Thomas a close second. Third was taken by Jessie VanRoechoudt. |
