Welcome to Food Pyramid

People who live in the Western countries are probably more familiar to the so called new and modern food pyramid which is totally different from the regular food pyramid that we know of. Unlike the old school food pyramid which consists of stages or levels, this new one consists of vertical layers with different colorings; so there are no stages or levels anymore. Of course the main reason for such new food pyramid is to improve people’s health as their health issues is getting worse and worse – based on medical researches and studies. So, what’s the good thing about this new food pyramid? What are the purposes?

What’s wrong with the Old Food Pyramid?
The problem with the old school pyramid doesn’t lie on the content. Carbs aren’t the main culprit that makes people suffer from obesity. There are lots of good carbs that can even help them lose weight and maintain healthy life style. There are so many grain products that are available in the form of refined grain; not the whole grain one. The whole grain can really improve people’s health, but the refined ones will only increase blood sugar and glucose level excessively, which leads to fat deposit in the body. The concern about the growing obesity issue has made government do researches and studies to that path. Medical experts now are sure that this is the main reason why people are getting fat and overweight from year to year, that’s why the new and modern food pyramid is created.
