2008 Section 1A Meet - Coaches To-Do List
Important Documents
Information needed
- Mail or e-mail the participant lists to John Resman by Wednesday, October 15, 2008.
- Fill out the section meet team entry forms and bring them to the section meet.
No school can participate in the section meet without handing in the forms.
Once the forms are handed in at the section meet, no changes can be made.
All participants in the section or state meet must be one of the nine names listed
on the team entry forms.
- There is a fee of $7.00 per runner participating in the section meet (maximum
of 7 runners per team). Please have your school send a check to the Section 1A
Secretary, Chuck Skarie (946 Byron Avenue N, Byron, MN 55920). Checks should be
made out to MSHSL Section 1A.
- Obtain a doctor's permission form for any runner that may use an inhaler or a heart monitor during the race and
show this form to the meet manager before the race.
Before the Race
- Remind runners to bring any liquids or food they will use before or after the race.
- Remind runners to bring $15 if they would like a T-shirt.
- Remind runners they cannot go on the course until 2 PM on the day of the meet.
Arrival at the Race
- Drop off the section meet team entry forms at the clubhouse.
- Drop off the uniform verification form at the clubhouse.
- Pick up your school's packet at the clubhouse.
- The packet will have the boys and girls rosters attached to it.
Verify the names and grades of the runners, make any corrections, and
hand in the rosters.
- If someone is running in the meet that is not listed on the team roster,
give that person someone else's number and indicate that change on
the roster that is handed in.
- The envelopes contain the runners' numbers and pins. Pass out the
numbers to the runners. The packet will specify which number has been
assigned to each runner. In addition, each number has a label on the pulltag
with the runner's name.
The numbers are to be placed on the front of the runner's shirt using 4 pins.
Pins are included in the packet. Additional pins are
available at the registration table. Make sure the pull tag is not pinned.
- Coaches' meeting at 3:15 PM at the clubhouse.
- Golf carts will not be available for the coaches.
Start of the Race
- Runners should be at the starting area 10 minutes before the start.
- Lane assignments are in the packets. Note that the lane assignments
for the girls and boys races are different.
- At 10 minutes before the race, instructions will be given to the
runners. They will then be allowed to continue warming up in front of
their lane until one minute before the start. Make sure to review with your runners
the starting procedures described in the document link above. The announcements won't necessarily follow
the printed procedures, but all of the procedures from two minutes before the start will
be followed.
Awards Ceremony
- Up to 9 individual medals will be awarded to the first place team. If a
coach of the winning team needs more individual medals, please contact the meet
manager.
- Team and individual results will be passed out after the ceremony.
- Coaches of teams and individuals qualifying for state need to obtain the
state tournament information from the administration section of the MSHSL web
site www.mshsl.org. The school ID and password
is required to access the administration section of the web site. The school ID and
password should be available from school's athletic director.
