Iguanas - Pineapple lunchOur lizard pets were getting more and more friendly towards end of our visit. One afternoon Minttu got the idea to give some pineapple to them. At some point we had 4 iguanas munching piece of pineapple on the terrace. Hansen BayOn the way to East End we passed some really nice views to Sir Francis Drake Channel. Just before end of the road there is a beach called Hansen Bay, right after Vie's place. On the left side you see Pelican Rocks. We snorkeled around the rocks and corals out there were pretty. Finding a passage back through the rocks was quite difficult. There was also strong current so you have to be a strong swimmer to go there. Minttu found some nice sea shells on the beach. Caneel BayOn Tuesday we headed to Caneel Bay. It is an old plantation acquired by Laurance S. Rockefeller in 50's. He started developing the site that is now a very nice (end expensive) resort. There is no entrance fee for visitors and it has all facilities. It has a very nice beach that has coral and a lot of fish on the right side of the beach. We saw squids, turtles, trumpet fish and a lot of different kind of coral while snorkeling towards Turtle Bay direction. The property has also a beach side restaurant and we took some carry-out hamburgers for lunch. They were very good but very expensive ($15 each). The property is filled with all kind of flowers -- see samples on the right. Caneel Bay was one of the best places to visit on the island. Don't miss it. |
