J2ME
Is the latest (sept 2004) java technology used for mobile phones applications. It is platform independent, which means applications designed for it can run on most phones on the market which support J2ME independent of the make. This has transformed mobile phones from being simple communcation tools to offering loads of entertainment and productivity. Some of the J2ME applications that can be found on mobile phones are scaled down version of games, calculators, spreadsheets, media players, webviewers, picture viewers, and text programs and a host of other programs.
