During
the 2000 season, overall, home teams were 138-110, thats a .559 winning
precentage. That means the home team wins a little better than
half the time while playing at home. Pretty much what you would
expect, right? Here are some averages from pervious years:
1999: 148-100 (.596).
1998: 151-89 (.629)
1997: 144-94-2 (.594)
1996: 141-91 (.607)
1995: 144-96 (.600)
Pretty
much on target, the high being in 1998 when home teams did quite well
with a .629 winning percentage.
However,
during the 2000 season on Monday Night Football, home field teams
were 14-3. That's an exceptional winning percentage of .824.
Disney may have realized their error in literally making the home field
advantage such an advantage. In 2001-2002, home teams were 7-8.
That's .467, which means Disney wrote the games in the opposite direction,
making teams lose more often at home.
During
the 2002-2003 season, which had the lowest average rating in the
history (11.2) of MNF, home teams had a record of 10-7, with a .588
winning percentage. To make the winning percentage more believable,
ratings suffered. The next logical step for Disney is the make
2003 full of home team victories.
