My favorite Bands

NOTE: My "favorite bands" is constantly changing..it usually consists of the bands that appear on this page. However, the order in which they would appear or rank fluctuates depending on my moods and other factors.

1.) Dream Theater 2.)Creed
Dream Theater is my favorite band by far!! They are truly phenomenal, both musically and graphically. The artwork on their cd covers is amazing, especially on their most recent album, "Metropolis Part 2:Scenes From a Memory". Their music is very technical and intricate, every song has meaning and creates amazing images in your mind!! My Favorite songs are: Everything(Yes they are that good), but if I had to pick just one I would say "Anna Lee" hands down for a ballot or slow song. "Anna Lee" made me cry the first time I heard it so I instantly fell in love with it. Overall I would say "A change of Seasons" it is a 23-minute epic that is divide in to 7 parts. A few of the parts are strictly instrumental and are very pleasing to listen to. In my opinion i think the song is amasterpice and should be listened to at least once, even if you not a DT fan or dislike their type of music. If you have never had a chance to listen to them I strongly recommend that you do now!! You can listen to samples at: CDNow Creed is right up there with Dream Theater, however are a different sound. The are more of a raw hard rock sound while Dream Theater has keyboards and sounds smoother. Creed is also noted for their musical imagery, such as in songs like "My Own Prison". They are also more well-known to the common man. For instance, if you went and asked someone if they have heard of Creed and then asked them if they have heard of Dream Theater, chances are they have heard of Creed and not Dream Theater. You may also check out Creed at: CDNow
3.)Pantera 4.)Metallica
Pantera is a kick-ass heavy metal band straight out of the south. They rock hard with extremely heavy riffs. They debut on the metal scene with "Cowboys for Hell" it is an extremely good album and it got them on the metal map. They then followed with "Vulgar Display of Power", which earned them a large part of their popularity. They recently follow with three more studio albums and a live album. All are very good and I recommend them all. You can hear samples at: CDNow Metallica is a phenomanol band! They are arguably one of the best heavy metal bands ever! They are especially noted for there live performances. They have had many hit albums. The first hit album entitled, Kill 'em All, back in early 1980 was an astounding contrubution to the genre and Metallica has been relesing great music from that point foward. You can take a look at "Kill 'em All" as well as there many other great albums at: CDNow
5.)3 Doors Down 6.)Stratovarius
3 Doors Down is most popular for their hit single "Kryptonite" they are a great band as well. They provide a different sound to my repertoire when I have had enough DT (Yes it is possible) They sing some catchy songs and the the whole cd is good and every song is worth a try so check 'em out at: CDNow Stratovarius is an excellent band, they play music very similar to Dream Theater, they use awesome sounds with keyboards and provide heavy rifts. It is almost like being in a dream world when your listening to them. Also, i am sure you have never heard of them. Well i was the same way, untill my good friend Jake Hicks sent me list of all spectacular bands that are similar to DT, so i owe my discovery of them to him. Thanks Man!! Feel free to listen at: CDNow
7.)Matchbox 20 8.)DMB
Matchbox 20 is a much lighter sound than anything else in my list. They use Acoustic guitars and other soft core instruments. Their songs are very catchy and often describe something that can occur in life in a different point of view. An Example of this is "Bent" which is about and I qoute their lead singer, Rob Thomas,"Bent is about a person who is screwed up, but in event that they meet someone else screwed up then they can live screwed up together and they won't have to worry about anything else, but each other." Check them out here: CDNow Dave Matthews Band a.k.a 'DMB' are an acoustic, jazz, folk and a whole bunch of other styles all-in-one. They are extremely talented musicians. There debut album "Under the Table and Dreaming" started of Dave's sudden popularity. As noted they are extremely popular, and have a reputation for having outstanding live performances. Other albums include "Crash","Before These Crowded Streets", and "Everday", as well as many live albums. Superb band to chill to so go grab some cds and start chillin'... CDNow
9.) Christina Aguilera 10.)Lifehouse
Christina Aguilera, what can I say about her? She is amazingly attractive, but moreover she can sing like an angel. I love her music very much, it is amazing. My favorite song is "I Turn to You" it is very pleasing to listen to, she really has a beautiful voice. This past christmas she released a christmas album, it is very good and has a good mix of 'old time classics' and some new stuff. Please check her out(her music) who knows what her songs will mean to you: CDNow Lifehouse plays a music similar to Live and Matchbox 20. This bands first single "Hanging By A Moment" topped the modern rock billboard in early 2001. The music is very good and is a pleasant acoustic sound. Other notable tracks are "Sick Cycle Carousel", "Cling and Clatter", and "Everything". The bands lead sing sounds very much like Scott Stapp from Creed, so if you liek his voice and the style of MB 20 and Live, check out Lifehouse. You can view thier discography and hear samples at : CDNow
11.)Fuel 12.)Shadow Gallery
Fuel came onto the big seen with their debut album, "Sunburn", it is a very interesting album. It has quite a few hits of different tempos. Personally i think their newest album, "Something like Human", is they key factor to what wil make them really popular. I predict that they will become very popular in the years to come. See what you think at: CDNow Shadow Gallery is a progressive rock band that stresses songwriting, production and performance in their music. Their songs are frequently long with instrumental pieces in the middle. Shadow Gallery's music is hard at times, soft at others, providing an interesting variety to the listener.(allmusic.com)Their 2nd album "Carved in Stone" is considered a progressive rock masterpiece. "Tyranny" is a destinct concept album, and the new "Legacy" holds its own well, also. All albums available at: CDNow
13.)Transatlantic 14.)Mullmuzzler
"Supergroup" is the first term that comes to mind in reference to Transatlantic. The band consist of a varirty of member who are already in established bands. Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater is an example, Neal Morse of Spock's Beard is another. Their 1st and currently only studio album, SMPT:e, starts of with a 30-minute epic. The album has 4 other tracks as well. The total time of the album nears an hour and 20 minutes. 1 hr and 20 minutes in 5 tracks!! That is astounding, not only is it intricate and at times beautiful, but it is a progressive rock masterpiece for obvious reasons. Check it out: CDNow Mullmuzzler is a side project of lead singer James LaBrie of Dream Theater, the music is very good, but to be honest the group is based around Labrie so I you don't like him you probably won't like Mullmzzler. If you do like LaBrie I strongly suggect you listen to this: CDNow
Other Noted Favorites: Live, Vertical Horizon, Ace of Base, Collective Soul, Pain of Salvation, Royal Hunt.
