Shane McBurnett

MLRA Project Leader

Responsible for management, quality assurance and coordination of all soils activities for 30 counties in the Headwaters MLRA Soil Survey Project Service Area, including portions of MLRA's 98, 99, 110, and 111. NASIS contact for the Indiana Headwaters MLRA Project Office Team. Member of Geomorpholgy and OSED workgroups. Secretary, Certification Board - Indiana Association of Professional Soil Classifiers. Certified Professional Soil Classifier. Work experience in Indiana and have described soils in many states across the country. Graduate of Purdue University with a BS and MS, also pursuing a PhD. Member of Gamma Sigma Delta, The Honor Society of Agriculture - March 1993 to present.

Rex Brock

Subset Project Leader

Responsible for data collection and analysis, taxonomic and map unit descriptions, manuscript, quality assurance, progressive correlation, special studies, Offical Series Descriptions, soil interpretations, and mapping efforts associated with updating soil surveys in Northern Indiana including portions of MLRA's 98, 99, 110, and 111. member of MUG and slope workgroups. Work experience in several counties in Northern Indiana. Graduate of Purdue University.

Rick Neilson

Resource Soil Scientist

Responsible for maintaining Field Office Technical Guides, providing on-site investigations (ie. animal waste facilities, potential dam sites, special interpretations), and soil training needs of personnel in the Northern 30 counties of Indiana. Also work with the Headwaters MLRA project office in updating soil surveys as needed. Assist with mapping, data collection and analysis, taxonomic and map unit descriptions, quality assurance, and soil interpretations. Past work experience in the lower peninsula of Michigan, as well as in Florida, California and Minnesota. Graduate of Michigan State University with a BS degrees.

David Gehring

Project Soil Scientist

Responsible for assisting all phases of soil survey updates in the northern 30 counties of Indiana, including soil classification, correlation, identification, investigation, interpretation, mapping, map unit design, production, coordination, evaluation of data quality, National Soil Information System (NASIS) data input, compilation, manuscript development, assisting the Resource Soil Scientist to a minor extent, and for the implementation of the National Cooperative Soil Survey Program. Member of American Society of Agronomy, Soil Science Society of America, Soil and Water Conservation Society. ARCPAC certified as an Associate Soil Scientist. Graduate of Purdue University with a BS in Soil and Crop Science and a MS in Soil Management and Land Use.
