The Dungog Chronicle.

Wednesday February 6, 1952.

The Roman Catholic Community of the Bulahdelah district are enthusiastically planning for the erection of a Convent in the town.

Re. Father Quinn (Parish Priest) said that it is proposed to build the Convent on the block of ground on the north side of St. Brigid's Church at Bulahdelah.

This site, at the foot of the picturesque and unique Alum Mountain, would be an ideal location for the Convent which, it is hoped, will accommodate from 60 to 80 pupils.

Rev. Father Quinn went on to say that in all probability the school would be constructed of alunite or alumstone, of which there is an abundant supply in the adjacent mountain.

Experts report that this ore is admirably suited for the construction of such a building. Apart from the economic aspect of its use, which would be considerable, it would be appropriate that local material should be used for such a project. 'Champion'.
