1.Developement Process

This site was built as a final project for IT270. We were to create a website for a fictional uncle's business. I decided to build a site for a real uncle and my husband. They are both mechanics and love working together. They have been talking about going into business together for years. I tease them about it and tell them we would have to call it Big Brother's Garage as everyone that calls to ask them to do work all want the labor for free. This site is a nod to them. When designing the site I decided to do a rough outline of the contect of each page first and work out the details from that outline. By doing an outline I was able to make sure that all of the elements required for the site were met.

2.Defense of final project

My husband and his uncle are the kind of men that people describe as a man's man. Because of that, I wanted the site to have a very masculine appeal. They are also very uncomplicated men so I wanted the site to reflect that as well. I wanted the colors of the site to be consistent and simple, so I chose a brown called burlywood and black with white accents. The images I found were of things I thought would be important to someone searching online for a auto repair shop. They would need to know what the building looked like and maybe get a good idea of what the inside looked like and who worked there. Obviously as it is fictious I borrowed images from company's sites that design shops. The building is real and I chose it as my husband and uncle had wanted to buy it when it went up for sale a year ago and decided against it.

3. Opportunities for Immprovement

As I don't have the experience or the capability yet, the form information doesn't go anywhere yet. I indciated on the Services/Parts page that I would expand the page to include parts. Auto parts inventory and look up is a difficult search function and I don't have the knowledge yet to build that.
