KONOZA PETS
CURIOUS GEORGE

From 1965 to 1968 we lived in
Bangkok, Thailand while our father John Stanley worked for the CIA in both northern Thailand and South Vietnam.  During our stay overseas, we had a pet Gibbon by the name of "George".

George loved to bond with us by sitting on our shoulders, going through our hair giving us "tick checks".  He also provided this type of grooming for our German Shepherd "King" and our Pekingnese "Nit Noy".

I miss him so much that I have a stuffed  "George" hanging from my rear-view mirror in my car.
This is the type of Gibbon that George was: White-Handed or Lar

Pacific/Celestial Parrotlet Forpus coelestis (Green, Blue, and Yellow)

Cato passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2005.  He was seven years old, which is middle-aged.  He had been expected to live to his teens.  He had either fallen in his cage and hit his head, or had brain cancer.  We had taken him to the animal hospital on Monday and he did not recover.  We will miss him dearly.

We held a burial ceremony in the back yard.  He was my "little yellow friend" (I named him after the character in the Pink Panther movies).  He loved the sound of plastic bags crinkling, because he thought he was going to get his cage cleaned each time he heard it.  He made the sound of sneakers squeaking on the gym floor.  He would make kissing sounds back to us.  He made cute little baby bird sounds when we took him out of the cage and rubbed his tummy and head.  He loved to preen us.  My last words were, "I'm canceling the attack orders for tonight" (a line from one of the Pink Panther movies).
