Tractor Cab - Lights!
(9/21/2008)

Got back to working on the cab a bit this past weekend.  Figured even if I didn't get the cab done before the snow flies, I'd better have lights on it.

I installed all 4 amber flashers, and all 4 worklights to the roof.  The flashers were wired up and plug into the tractor harness for the LH and RH flashers.  The RH rear worklight is wired directly to the tractor harness to come on with the normal headlights, just like the rear worklamp kit that came with the tractor.

The rest of the worklights are wired up to their own circuit.  First, tapped a power lead off of the battery cable post at the starter.  Within a few inches of the starter is an inline fuse holder and a spade connection that can stay with the tractor even with the cab off.  From there, a line was run up the LH front post to the roof and to the supply terminal on a ON-OFF-ON switch.

The worklights are wired to the new switch in the roof. I basically have 3 lighting options:

1) "Normal"  This is the tractor's normal switch turned to the working light position.  This turns on the headlights in the hood and the RH rear worklight on the cab.

2) "Loader" This is #1 plus the cab switch in the UP position.  This adds in the 2 front worklights on the cab roof for extra lighting up front, over the top of the loader.  This is a huge improvement becuase the headlights were almost always shining right into the back of the bucket.

3) "Snowblower" This is #1 plus the cab switch DOWN.  This adds in the LH rear worklight for double the lighting to the rear for blowing snow.  The front cab lights are left off to avoid pulling too many amps out of the small alternator.

Now all I need are windows and doors!
