Last spring we bought a John Deere 2320 compact utility tractor with a 200CX loader and 54" mower deck.
The little tractor instantly became useful, speeding up mowing the place and helping with general maintenance projects. Last fall, I found a used snowblower for the back of it, which came in handy during one of the top 10 snowiest winters this area has seen. The blower works great, but things get pretty cold when the wind blows the powder right back in your face. Usually, the entire tractor ends up covered in snow, including me.
I decided that I ought to have a cab. Aftermarket cabs for these things are expensive, with the lower priced ones looking dorky to boot. I embarked on a project to build a cab to block the wind and snow during the winter months...
A lot of thinking and deliberating took place before work began. This included daydreaming, measuring things, staring at the tractor, etc. I built a really simple mockup of my best guess at a plan using 2x2 lumber and tweaked the design some based on that mockup and how it looked.
