Chopper Bike:  Swingarm Revisited
As I mentioned on the previous page, my swingarm design was flawed (did I mention what I do for a living?) and buckled under load.  This was back in late summer and since then, I have mostly ignored this project.  About a month ago, I finally got around to straightening the bent portion of the swingarm and getting an idea of how I might improve it.

Well, tonight I finally cut some steel and welded some stuff and ended up with a much stronger swingarm.  And even more importantly, I did this all without burning myself!

The new upper struts on the swingarm are smaller, 3/4 tube, and was made using a single piece, beaten with a hammer, and bent around a large pipe I found in the shop.  The existing post on the swingarm was extended and the whole thing tied together with a gusset to tie in the joint better.  With any luck, it'll work!
