MKMR Projects Operation Lifesaver Layout
This is the progress of a 4' x 8' layout that will be used by Operation Lifesaver at the Kansas State Fair to help promote train saftey.
Track was set out to check the fit.
Mountain Corner
NCRA Model
A good coat of primer was used after the basic table was built.
Roundhouse Corner
The Kato track was laid out to check the fit.
Testing the track or having some fun?
City Corner
A section of table was cut out and lowered for a creekbed.
Masking tape is used to keep the track clean.
A pair of bridges would look good here.
Yellow styrofoam is used to gain the contour of the land. Here is what the land looks like after the ground cover is added.
These tools are used to shape the styrofoam.
Now it's time to add some trees.
The contour of the land and the trees lining the creekbed looks realistic.
And more trees.
Got milk?
Even dead trees give this layout some life.
Gotta have an old limestone post fence.
It looks like this guy is trying to impress his girlfriend.
Some added detail and...more trees.
I guess he didn't see that huge billboard.
A Kansas icon.
Seems like these kids are looking for trouble.
Those horses are going to need some water.
And the south set looks like someone drove around them.
The north set of crossing signals looks good.
The lights work!
Looks like someone is getting a ticket.
This layout is ready for the fair.
Look for the duck.
