| Canadian Rockies, 2001: Skiing in Banff courtesy of Pfizer. Mediocre snow but breathtaking scenery that beats anything we have seen in Colorado or Utah. Stayed at the famous Banff Springs Hotel. Somewhat disappointing. The one in Lake Louise looked better. But who's going to complain when it is free? See pictures. Asia (Beijing, Hong Kong, Thailand, Cambodia), 2001: 2001 was our Asia year. Mary Helen's MBA took her to Asia and I finally made it, too. Awesome trips with Angkor Wat, the ancient temples in Cambodia, that figure among the 7 wonders of the world. Also, mountain biking and diving in Thailand and Vietnam from Hanoi to Saigon. See pictures Beijing, Thailand, Cambodia. Vietnam pictures to come. Galapagos and Quito, 2000: Unbelievable! Rated as the best diving destination in the world the question is: Where do you go from here? The wildlife on land and under water is absolutely amazing and completely unafraid. Went on the Galapagos Aggressor. Teriffic boat. Afterwards 5 days in Quito with daytrips. Second highest capital in the world (Lima is #1). More than 9000 feet. Surrounded by volcanoes. Very cute hotel named Cafe Cultura. Check Galapagos pictures. Walker's Cay 1999: Take a look at this! Handfeed sharks from shore. Dive with dozens of sharks feeding on a chum ball. Snorkel with bull sharks in water little more than knee deep right off the shore. There is nothing like it. |
